The pros are many at this family resort-with very few cons.

We are a family of 5 and have stayed at many resorts, condos, and cabins in Okoboji over the last 15 years.

Crescent Beach is a clean "lake cabin" type resort geared towards families. You name it-they have it! Bonfires to boat hoists, tennis to paddle boats and everything in between. Sadly, the kids program wasn't utilized nearly as much as it should have been! The recreation program and leadership rivals both Disney Cruise and Royal Caribbean programs our kids have used. Terry is AWESOME and keeps kids busy with one cool craft after another. We have three boys and even our 13 year old enjoyed it-which says a lot! It isn't fancy but it is FUNctional!
The pros:
Excellent program for kiddos.
Clean rooms and property.
Friendly and responsive management.
Tons to do!
Beautiful views under magnificent trees!

The cons:
The opposite side of the lake from the action so you either need to drive or boat to shops and restaurants. (Not much can be done about this but you should know before you go.)
We stayed in one of the condo units and the kitchen could have been better stocked with bigger pans and better working kitchen tools. (i.e. can opener, no scissors, etc.)
Not a lot of privacy.

Overall, we would stay here again. We really enjoyed it and can't say enough about the amenities!

Room Tip: The flying cloud condos were great. Next time we would consider the sioux cottage for our family be...

I read the other reviews and discovered that people's expectations really vary!! We have stayed at Crescent Beach for over 25 years. We have weathered floods, wind storms, management changes, etc. but one thing that has never changed . . . if you want a relaxing vacation on the lake in Okoboji, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. It is pricey, but it has a sand beach right outside your door which most of the other resorts in the area do not have. It is clean and family friendly. If you want a private oasis, this is not the place for you. This is a family resort, not the Embassy Suites. Clean and functional. We have visited other places and wouldn't trade our experience at Crescent Beach.

Went for three midweek nights on the way to the Black Hills with a family of six. Staff was always friendly and available. They were very accommodating with our large family. Beach is nice, but a bit on the small side. But largely made up for by a large patio that runs the length of the building. You can step outside your room, sit in a lawn chair or at a picnic table and visit or enjoy the views. Also, bigger kids and adults can enjoy the water trampoline and diving/climbing slide. If you're looking for the Intercontental or the Trump, this probably won't work for you, but if you're planning to unplug, this is your place.
Be sure to check out the evening cruise, which will pick you up at the dock if you call the front desk.

Stayed one night very disappointed. With taxes, you pay nearly $400 per night. In the two rooms there is a 13" TV in one and a 9" TV in the other. Are you kidding me? Also, the old fuzzy TVs are up in a corner where you can't even see it while sitting on the couch or any bed. All the patios/balcony is just one big long strech for all the rooms. There is absolutely no privacy as you are sitting out there looking at the lake. The beach is tiny. The bathroom was just a stand up shower that needed some upkeep. The mattresses were very cheap and you'll wake up sore. They did have a water trampoline, which the kids thought was "ok," but they complained that it doesn't really bounce compare to a standard trampoline. Overall, the place isn't horrible, it just way overpriced for what you get. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the side of the lake where everything is at (i.e arnolds park, restaurants, boat rental,etc.). We made some last second weekend plans to go up to Okoboji, and this was the only place in the entire area that still had rooms available. Now I know why. You can find way better for the price

This is a great resort for families! It's right on the lake. It has a very nice play area for the kids. No resteraunt, but that was okay with us since everyone there grills. They have organized activities for the kids. The staff is very friendly! Close to Arnold's Park. We are definately going back!

This resort is on the lake and we had a room on the opposite side. It was very small and really cheaply done. The bathroom was small with a little tiny sink and no where to set anything down. We had to put our toothbrushes and toothpaste on the dresser outside the bathroom. It was bare bones and then some. Of our ten-day riad trip, the two nights at this hotel were dismal compared to all of the other places we stayed. And some of those were less money than Crescent Beach. Also, no where to get coffee or breakfast nearby. I would never stay there again.
