Description: Dawn and her team give you an extremely warm welcome you to The Royal Oak in Crockham Hill. We serve superb home-cooked food and there is a range well-kept Westerham Brewery beers and fine wines for you to enjoy. We have sampler trays for 3 x 1/3 pint samples of our beers. The pub is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - whether you are walking, cycling, on a family outing or working away from the office there is something for you at The Royal Oak.There are a couple of walks on the Links page of our website and we are very close to both Chartwell and Hever Castle.Freshly brewed coffee and free High Speed WiFi is available at all times.

We always visit this pub when we go walking round Toy's Hill and although sometimes there are only a couple of beers on, it's always been well-kept, good beer. We've always found the staff to be genuinely friendly, particularly the landlady. We've only eaten a full meal there a couple of times but the food was excellent, and both times the chef was able to knock up a vegan variation of the vegetarian meal on offer. A pub with a great atmosphere, great staff and fantastic chef.

Having been turned away by another nearby establishment I was relieved that the Royal Oak were happy to accommodate our party of 12 walkers one Saturday lunchtime. My experience of being served in a large party is often not great but there were no problems here for us. Food was tasty and good value. Westerham Brewery's Summer Perle was excellent ( it doesn't have very far to travel after all). Finally friendly staff, should be a given but sadly often not the case.

From the large menu we both chose Haddock and mushy peas. The fish was large enough to overflow the plate!!! The meal was filling enough that we did not need anything else.
I had a recommended Grasshopper and my wife had a cider.
That night (Monday), we were the only patrons dining at the time and the service was very good and the quality of the meal was excellent and reasonably priced.

This pub is a very enjoyable place to spend time. Its a great example of a traditional pub with great food, drink and atmosphere. I believe that the lady who manages this pub is a big reason why the place has such a nice comfortable feel. This pub is on the intersection of several hiking paths, and hence is a perfect place for hikers to take an enjoyable rest.

The Royal Oak is nice pub and in the past I've enjoyed meals there.

Unfortunately last Sunday the kitchen seemed to have an off day. Whitebait seemed to have been poached rather than deep fried, not an issue had the menu had made that clear. There are somethings on a sunday roast you can microwave but roast potatos and yorkshire pudding are not amongst them. Better not to serve them then send out a poor dish.

There's a lot at the Royal Oak that good, well kept beers and friendly staff but the kitchen let the side down badly.

Dear CO1150, we are confused that you thought things were poached or wrongly microwaved. Please ring the landlady, Dawn, on 01732 866335 who would love to chat with you
