“Blarcreen is the best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2012

Blarcreen is one of the best small hotels we have stayed in. Set in wonderful surroundings, restored to a very high standard with beautiful rooms. Our hosts Sian & Garry couldn't have been more attentive. We were made to feel very welcome with afternoon tea on arrival and some of Sian's delicious homemade muffins. They have a great knowledge of the surrounding area and it's attractions and recommended several places to visit and eat, all of which were great. Our room was delightful with a lovely four poster bed and views of the loch. The bathroom was very well appointed and we loved the attention to detail with bottled water, yummy chocolates and fluffy robes. Our breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked with the best quality ingredients. The dining room is beautiful, overlooking the garden where you can watch the local birds feeding while you eat. A superb hotel, we hope to visit again and would recommend anyone else to do so.

Room Tip: Room with four poster bed is very romantic with lovely views.

We recently spent just one night at the Blarcreen Hotel near Oban. It was the best small hotel we've visited in a long time. The room was beautifully decorated and equipped and breakfast in the superb dining room the next morning was a joy, looking out at the birds visiting the feeders, the sheep in the field next door and the glorious view across the wooded lochside to the loch itself. Best of all, the owners Sian and Garry couldn't have been more friendly and attentive, with their warm welcome of tea and cake. The breakfast was a treat, with lovely food and elegant tableware.

We're told an evening meal might be arranged with prior notice.

We hope we'll visit again, and would encourage anyone else to do so.

One little tip; sat navs don't do too well in finding the property, so it might be wise to ring or email the hotel before driving there, for instructions about the last bit of the route.

Jill and Peter Glazier

Room Tip: Room No 1 was ideal for us.

Blarcleen is set in the most beautiful surroundings near to the Loch where we saw a seal swimming. The hosts Sian & Garry were so friendly and provided a particularly yummy afternoon tea on arrival. The room was so romantic with a gorgeous four poster and views of the loch and lots of lovely touches such as fluffy robes, chocolates and bottled water. This place is in a league of its own and is definitely more than just a b&b - it's a sensational experience, we just wished we had stayed longer. We'll be back to this charming house and it's charming hosts.

The stone house set amongst the fields with the sparkling loch just beyond, the warm and friendly hosts Sian and Garry, the enormous 4-poster king-sized bedroom and ensuite bath, the proximity to Oban and the coastal drive... It is a wonderful spot! The afternoon tea with Sian's homemade goodies as well as an evening fire in the sitting room were comfortable, and it was interesting for us to chat with Sian and Garry about their B&B. We had a lovely morning walk down the lane after Garry's well-cooked breakfast. The Green and Black's mini chocolate bars in the bedroom were a great little touch. Could not recommend it more highly!

Stayed for two nights and absolutely loved the entire experience. So welcoming, excellent food...in particular the home made cakes and shortbread. Would highly recommend room 4 as it has a four poster bed and stunning views...its the lots of little touches that really make this place stand out.

We likes absolutely everything. Homemade food, very accommodating, great location and stunning scenery. Having stayed in a lot of hotels I genuinely found it one of the most welcoming I have ever stayed in.

However, nervous drivers should be warned it is a single track road to the venue and it is remote - the nearest shop/pub is not within walking distance. That said- there is nothing you would need to leave for!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have the best views of the loch and mountains (and a 4 poster bed!)

I was travelling to Oban to spend a few days there with my parents in law. I saw Blarcreen House and although it was slightly more expensive it was the best thing I did to book it. Sian and Garry could not be more friendly and obliging.
The house location is superb with 360 degree views. We were greeted, bags taken to rooms and then given a welcome cup of tea and home made walnut cake. The rooms are fabulous, clean and have great views.
There are so many extra touches- bath robes, not only tea and coffee but real coffee, drinking chocolate and a couple of Green & Blacks mini chocolates. Bottled water to drink in the fridge and fresh milk, thick towels, comfy bed...shall I go on!! Even the weather was glorious.
As we'd travelled quite a distance we didn't want to go out for an evening meal and just sat in the garden eating our rolls and salad that we'd brought with us. There were offers of more tea but we were quite content to sit in the tranquil setting admiring the view and listening to the cuckoo.
I walked down to the loch which was lovely or you could walk along the road through the woods or up toward the hills. The breakfast is superb and all the produce was of the highest quality. It certainly kept us going all day when we travelled back home.
First Class and I would certainly recommend this wonderful place and its wonderful hosts.

Room Tip: All the rooms are superb. In both rooms we had had double views and I woke up to streaming sun and v...
