We took the ferry from and to Saint-Francois on the new Babou One which took about 45 minutes. We stayed at this hotel 2 days and 1 night. The small "gite" located in Souffleur on the south coast in the center of the island is run by Patrick and Cathy. It is composed of a covered common area (le carbet) attached to the owner's residence, a swimming pool, direct access to a small beach and 3 bungalows split in two each for a total of 6 apartments. Overall, the service mainly by Patrick was very friendly and excellent. He picked us up at the ferry, drove us around the western part of the island giving us key historical and geographical highlights. Once at the hotel, he showed us around the property and sat down with us for a more detailed explanation of La Desirade. He recommended and arranged a 4-wheel-drive tour (3 hours) of the island with Maurice of Desi-Rando (which was excellent). He also drove us back to the ferry for our departure. The loft-style apartments are basic but fairly well appointed with a small outdoor kitchenette, a nice bathroom, sitting area with tv and upstairs open bedroom with a two-person bed and a one-person bed. This is no air conditioning (clim) but decent flow-through breeze and two fans, as well as a full-size newer refrigerator with freezer. There is wifi in the apartment and in the common area. With our one-night package (90 euros), a small continental breakfast was provided (tea, coffee or hot chocolate, basic OJ, a few fresh small breads and croissants with jams. The breakfast could have easily included yogourt and fresh fruit, but didn't. The pool deck, tiles and lounge chairs could use maintenance and repairs as the conditions were a little rough. The nearby beach is small but quite private and the swimming is limited. The nearby (5 min walk) Souffleur beach is quite nice and extensive, with a great restaurant called La Roulotte. Overall, we were quite pleased with our stay and would return.
