Good place to stay if you're in kundasang. The view from this place is amazing. You can see top of mount kinabalu.
The staff is efficient. But maybe need to appear friendly next time
Recommend to book your stay with dinner and breakfast package..

Stayed overnight here on a 2 day sightseeing tour to Kinabalu National Park and Poring Hot Springs, etc. Rooms & resort were basic but very clean. Nice new looking bathroom with everything you need. Dinner in the restaurant was very nice, with a Malaysian style rice breakfast in the morning. If you expect 'western style' breakfasts & meals you will be disappointed. Accept that you're in a different country and be open-minded and you'll find the food is simple, fresh & tasty.

There is a bar there (which was closed the night we visited) if you feel the need for an alcoholic drink. We found most places in Malaysia did not serve alcohol. This was no big deal, and I found the lemon iced tea to be more refreshing in the heat anyway. Also a little shop with souvenirs, basic supplies, drinks, snacks & ice creams.

The best part was the amazing view of Mt Kinabalu from our decking! Sitting there, sipping a coffee, just taking in the immense presence of the mountain which towers over everything, was an awe-inspiring experience. We just sat and watched the mountain as the sun set. It was truly a highlight of our trip. Very glad we stayed overnight here.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a mountain view room

We stayed here in a deluxe room with 2 adults and 3 children- great views of the mountain and food was great (steamboat is a must!). Bit squashed with 3 extra mattresses in the room but still recommend for a short stay as rooms were clean and good value for 5 of us. Ask for S block.

Room Tip: Definitely go for S block if budget allows for it

Our objective in Kinabalu Pines Resort (KPR) was to enjoy the GOD given beauty of Kinabalu Mountain(KM) which can be seen in full sight and height only during sunrise to about 9 am {DHUHA in Arabic) and a short period during before dusk (Maghrib).

Touchdown at Kota Kinabalu(KK) Airport just before noon. Our prearranged 4 wheel drive was ready waiting for us then, courtesy from 2 ex-colleagues. The MD and Owner of a Luxury Car Distributor and his GM. Reached KPR after an hour's drive checked in for 2 nights stay. Breakfasts and dinners thrown in. Room was quite spacious and clean. Basic amenities but clean sheets and pillows which were important to us. Dusk saw the full sight of KM and was fascinated by its beauty. Ready for KPR dinner then which came in complete (chicken, veg., fruits, fish and rice). Night was comfortable at about 17%c and we snucked into comfortable beds. Before we forget we enjoyed the town's fresh air and mountain breeze, compared to our busy city life. It was 5am and being muslims we got ready for morning prayers. Thereafter, we sat at our room balcony with seats and a small table provided, waiting for KM's sight. It came at sunrise and wow what a fantastic sight. Different beauty of KM seen at dusk yesterday. At about 8 am the sun was blasting its peak. And here its rocks turned beautiful red stretched across.
We didn't got enough of enjoying the mountain's beautiful sight and decided to extend into a third night stay before shooting to Semporna (the base to Sipadan Islands). Will give Tripadvisor our review when we have the time next.
Overall, KPR was the most appropriate place the sight the beauty of Kinabalu Mountains and enable us to meet our objective spot on.

We would like to recommend that KPR add a bit more variety to its basic breakfast. Overheard a customer that breakfast was the same as it was 10 years ago.

My partner and I chose the Kinabalu pine resorts for a 2 night stay in May mainly because the accommodation provided by Sutera Sanctuary Lodges inside the park was either extortionately priced or not available. First impressions of the resort is that it looks like an alpine village in the middle of the jungle. We both liked this fact and it does have fantastic views of Mount Kinabalu in the morning (when the peak isn't covered in cloud). We stayed in a superior room. The room was large, had wooden floorboards and on first impressions, was clean and tidy. However, on further inspection the cleaners hadn't paid enough attention and I felt the standard of cleanliness was lacking.

The balcony/terrace was huge and wonderful to sit out on.

We opted for the package which included breakfast and dinner due to the limited options for food in Kundasang. The food was a set menu, including Chinese tea, and was edible, but of varying quality. Usually involved a soup and a meat dish and some rice. Breakfast consisted of tea/coffee, watermelon, noodles, eggs and chicken sausages. In hindsight, we would not opt for this package again and would find other places to eat (KFC in Kundasang village!) or near the entrance to the park itself as there was a good café outside the gates.

The hotel organised transfers for us to Mount Kinabalu National Park and Poring hot springs. The transfers were expensive but our only option as we had limited time. I would advise travellers to find alternative transportation option.

All in all, Kinabalu pine resorts is an odd and quirky place with pine trees, flanked by rainforest! Accommodation was basic, and not as clean as I would have liked. But, it's probably one of the better options around the national park.

Room Tip: Go for a superior room

I and my family stayed at H block for one night. However, our stay turned into frustration and annoyance when the morning we were going to check out, the standing fan collapsed when my kid touched the push buttons and nearly hit her head. We informed the reception during check out and to our surprise: we were asked to pay for the damaged fan!! What a poor job the maintenance at the resort has done, electrical appliances are not checked and inspected before guest check in?! To add to the misery, the reception staff was not reasonable and argued that my kid broke the fan. how could an one-year old kid able to do such damage??
Our trip was spoiled thanks to your resort, and we wont return again and would not recommend our friends to this resort.

Room Tip: Check for any damaged items in the room after check-in

Stayed there just for 1 night. The accomodation is good and also the great view of majestic mt.kinabalu from the stage provided there. But, if you want to retreat and have a peaceful stay, KPR still have the distraction from below highway to Ranau. The sound of car annoying me.. just that. Overall i enjoy the stay with my wife.. the view of majestic kinabalu is take my breath away!
