Kinabalu Pine Resort
Ranked #1 of 2 Hotels in Kundasang
Reviewed 17 February 2014

We stayed there for 1 night to enjoy the Kundasang weather and Kinabalu park.
I saw in the hotel lobby that it is rated as 2-star but I have to say it is more than that!
Location: This hotel is strategically located. You can see the Mt. Kinabalu from the hotel. It is only a short walk away from the stretch of little market place where you can get fresh flowers, vegetables and fruits.
Room: Nothing to shout about but it's clean and comfortable.
Hotel: lovely garden with a variety of flowers.

Room Tip: Getting a deluxe would be better as it's only 1 storey. Standard room then it will be 2-storey...

Kinabalu Pine Resort is somewhat pricey but the view of the mountain is excellent. Go for the Superior rooms - they face the mountains. Breakfast is average but sufficient. The outdoor restaurant is amongst beautiful pine trees - very picturesque. The restaurant food is pricy and average - but it'll do the trick.

We stayed 2 nights in a S room with direct views of the mountain - definitely worth it! The view is amazing and the place is easy to get to without a car. The rooms are spacious although the walls are very thin.

The staff and restaurant let the place down. Not very good especially for the price. But its definitely one of the better options in town and the views are sensational.

This place build in a very strategic location, Approximately 15 minutes to kinabalu park, 3-10 minutes to War Memorial park & Dairy farm and 35-40 minutes to poring hot spring. We booked 2 chalets (Block G - Pine tree, No view - you need to go out to see the valley view / mountain view) and stayed there for a night. We don't have very good view though as we made a last minute booking and the place is quite pack with local and overseas travelers. The room was clean with good facilities. Everything functional very well. Resort with villas build on the hillside and definitely not for those who need special attention i.e using wheelchair etc. Anyway on overall we had a really nice experience at pine resort.

Room Tip: 1.Rooms on the Block R side are facing the Mount Kinabalu. 2. Avoid stay at the block G, you might...

I've tried several places here in Kundasang but this place is by far the best one. Although a bit hilly (and kinda steep for vehicles - but still drivable), the views were breathtaking especially in the early morning. We got the S chalet (the highest one there is) and it's just lovely (but it's advisable to request for the ones that are on the right, as the S chalets on the left are has palm trees that can blocked your view of the mountain). The breakfast were sufficient & the surrounding areas are just very relaxing & lovely

Booked 2 chalets and stayed there for a night. We got block R which face mt kinabalu without any obstruction at all! Stunning view from the room..you open the door and straight ahead is the mt standing tall in front of you. Overall we had a nice experience at pine resort except the cehck in is 3pm and check out time is 11am..where normally other hotel is 12pm.

This was one of the nicest places to stay because of the attention to detail. It's a sprawling resort with small villas scattered throughout the steep hillside. Definitely not for someone in a wheelchair or unsteady on their feet. Steep staircases traverse the grounds but the views over Mount Kinabalu are stunning. Clean rooms with good facilities.
