We researched many options for accommodation near Kinabalu National Park, and finally settled on this as the best option. We knew we would be arriving late, so needed a place with reception that would be open, and would be easy to find (it is on the main road and was in the GPS data). What should have been a 1.5hr drive from KK airport turned out be a 3.5hr drive, as we encountered a torrential tropical downpour, and peak hour traffic, then countless trucks on the road, so we finally arrived at 2045hrs. Breakfast and dinner are included-we were grateful there was still food available for us when we arrived late! The food is basic home-cooked meals, little choice, but adequate. Alcohol is not served in the dining room, but there is a bar from which it can be purchased, so we were able to have a "Happy Hour" on our room balcony with our friends. There is no fridge in the room for chilling your own drinks. The room was very spacious, and we had a massive balcony- try to request rooms S1, S2, S3, S4- they are up the top of the complex (a bit of a climb uphill from the restaurant), but have magnificent views of Mt Kinabalu (worth waking up early to see as the cloud cover comes in early). Rooms lower in the complex have views impeded by trees. Free wifi. No in-room safe. This is the only hotel where we have been given the TV remote control at reception and are required to hand it back at check out. On check-out, they checked the room before finalising the check-out process- it does make you wonder what some people do to their rooms!! For children, they have a playground, and a rabbit house.

Nice place to stay for honeymoon. The view of the Mount Kinabalu from the resort really wonderful. But you need to wake up early before the cloud cover the mount view. Best place to have a rest with fresh and cool air.

Room Tip: No air-cond, only fan.

Before I went to the Kinabalu National Park area I did quite some research about a convenient and comfortable hotel with mountain views. The Kinabalu Pine Resorts proved to be exactly that - plus offering a beautifully planted garden with many pine trees, flowers, bougainvillea and others plants. The surrounding scenery is truly magnificent.
While I would not exactly describe my chalet/room (in N block) as luxurious it was actually cosy, comfortable, clean and in good condition - I would say appropriate for the mid-range rates.
The service was both helpful and friendly.
The only aspect which I - from the perspective of a western vegetarian - found less convincing was the food. It proved to be quite bland and boring (white rice with almost unspiced vegetables).

My friend and I didn't want to spend 3 hrs cooped up in the car head to KK city. So we booked this place which is a 5 min drive from the KK park. Glad we did cos our legs where like jelly after the hike. The hotel surrounding is amazing with great views of tall pine trees and the weather was perfect. The rooms were pretty decent and the best part was the patio. We stayed in the "S" block and it was money wortt spent.

Do not get the package with dinner and breakfast as it was not good. The ala carte menu is good. The bar opens only at 9 pm and no alcohol is served in the restaurant.

There is nothin else to do around the hotel. It is a perfect hotel to stay for one night to rest after the climb

Room Tip: Choose the S block

Nicely laid out resort with excellent views of Mount Kinabalu. Noticeably fresher feel (not cold!) than Kota Kinabalu. Rooms are basic, but comfortable and spotlessly clean. Dinner was provided for the group and consisted of soup with a couple of Chinese and Malay dishes with some steamed veg, all cooked fresh and very tasty. Be sure to visit the rabbit house and feed them some greens! Only problem was with a noisy Chinese tour group leaving early one morning and not considering some folk may still be asleep at 0530! No fault of the hotel, we would definitely return.
