We had an excellent stay. The hosts were very friendly and most accommodating. The home is lovingly decorated. Our room was very nice, quiet, clean and comfortable. The hosts served evening tea in a comfortable lounge with the other guests making it a very enjoyable visit. Breakfast was marvellous. Although the B&B is 20 minutes beyond Amherst it's location with an ocean view is well worth the visit.

We stayed at the Stuart House B&B with 2 adults and 2 children in our party. The hosts Shelley & Brian were very warm and welcoming. They had our room ready and comfortably set up and offered to move things around to make it even more comfortable for our little ones. Their recommendations and directions to local eateries were spot-on. Shelley makes beautiful quilts and you will get to see them in your room. And her breakfast... I'm still dreaming about it! Yummy home-made jams, fresh cinnamon buns, muffins and even a quiche - who could ask for more? Would love to go back...

Room Tip: Cash & cheques are only accepted, no credit cards...

EXCELLENT B & B with wonderful hosts! We were looking for a "base camp" as we explored New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island and we could NOT have designed a better location and setting. While staying at The Stuart House we visited Fundy National Park, Hopewell Cape, Moncton, Cape Jourimain in New Brunswick; New London, Cavendish, North Rustico, Brackley Beach, Dalvay Beach, Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island; and Amherst, Tidnish, Lorneville, and Pugwash in Nova Scotia. The accommodations were perfect and as others have mentioned the food was excellent!!! The Tanners went beyond the call of duty and service to make sure that everything we needed was available; from sending us to eateries, giving us backroad directions, finding local events for us to check out, and even giving us a tour of the property complete with tree and plant identification.

Did I mention that we were traveling with FIVE teenagers and when initially contacted the innkeepers quickly WELCOMED us to come and stay with them in their home. That is a true gem in today's world when most people are worried about the next generation. It was interesting to listen or see the opinions regarding this establishment from those young people's eye's - numerous post on facebook about staying at the cutest bed and breakfast in Nova Scotia and a mention as we were pulling out of the driveway that one of them had dibs on being able to come back for their honeymoon (no time in the near future).

I am extremely excited to save other travelers research time by telling you to contact Brian and Shelly to book your stay at The Stuart House Bed and Breakfast by the bay (Northumberland Strait) looking across to Prince Edward Island!!!

Room Tip: The room I stayed in had a view of the front & back, thus providing cross ventilation.

Great place to stay on our way back from Cap Breton to Montreal. By the NB coast in a wonderfull house hosted by Shelly and Brian, two very nice people eager to meeting and welcoming their guests. Breakfast is very good with homemade blueberry muffins and more...a taste of NS warmth and spirit.
will be back for sure.

Lovely house set within sprawling lawns and flower beds. Our room was very comfortable - in fact it was the most comfy bed of the whole of our two week stay in Atlantic Canada. The hosts were fantastic! Hot drinks and biscuits when we arrived, awesome breakfast. Guided us well in getting to the nearest restaurant before it closed. Very, very helpful. Highly recommended!
