On arrival was made welcome , asked about local resturants and was told a few which was very helpful. Now we had quite a journey from essex in a classic car which ended up being a five hour drive, I was exhausted and wanted a sleep before venturing out in the evening. Not very happy with the fact that the owner started drilling in one of the rooms and the main part of the problem is the bedroom door of room two is right next to the front door. So every time somebody came in and had a conversation, we heard everything. Also there is a lot of road noise even with all the windows shut. On a positive side the place is very clean and comfy and the breakfast is great, so if you want a quiet room ask to stay upstairs.

Room Tip: Pick a room up stairs less noise.

I spent a weekend at the coast and was looking for a base around and with easy access to Bournemouth, Southampton, and Portsmouth. That's how I came to book a room at Walcot Guesthouse. Unfortunately, it was quite a hot weekend and my rather small room had only one window facing the south. This meant it was hot and sticky inside. The owners are friendly people and tried to make my stay a pleasant one, in particular by preparing really nice full English breakfasts. The area is rather rural but there is a frequent bus into Southampton stopping outside the guesthouse. People with a light sleep should be warned by the huge oil refinery down the road as the work and humming in the distance doesn't stop at night.

On arrival the owners were very hospitable, lovely and accommodating. I was completing a big cycling event around the New Forest and the Isle of White the next day and needed my valuable bike storing which they secured in their personal quarters. The rooms are cosy with all the amenities you need perfect for a stopover in the New Forest area. Lovely couple and genuinely care for your stay I would recommend to anyone.

This is a small bed and breakfast establishment with standards that would put some of the big hotel chains to shame. Friendly welcome very late at night, immaculately clean and comfortable bedroom and shower room with an excellent full english breakfast served the next day. I had the double twin room which was a good size, the single my friend had quiet small so I recommend taking the twin even if your sating on your own. Parking on site is available, and the internet speed was in excess of 30 Mb and included in the deal.

Room Tip: Book the on-suite twin, even if you only want a single room.

I only stopped the 1 night, ( i did not arrive till after 9 pm ) but i was made very welcome by the owner, and i thought it was great value for the price. Ideal location for the new forrest and the coast is only a few mile away. I thought it was great value for the price.
