“We loved it! Want to come back!”
Reviewed 14 April 2010

We came to Dodge City for a family reunion. We met up at the Dodge House with our relatives from Oklahoma. We also had one wheelchair person in the group and they gave us a great room on the main floor with its own livingroom for no extra charge. It made it so much easier since we had more room for our Aunt to be comfortable.
Those of us who were trying out the new casino found the hotel offers a shuttle to the facility and were very flexible with their schedule. Some of us went early and the others were able to meet us later. Some of us won and some of us lost. We ate at the casino, but found that the hotel restaurant was much better. Best steak I've ever had. We came back to eat lunchs since the casino was a 45 minute wait. The portions at the hotel were a bit big for some of us but I guess I can't complain too much. The bar is also very nice. It has a great atmosphere and the bartender was realy friendly.
The desk and and cleaning staff were great too. Our rooms were ready and clean when we got back in early afternoon to rest up for dinner. The maid even got us some extra towels right away. the whole hotel is very clean. The inside of the hotel has a HUGE open area that was great because the weather was windy outside. The kids in the group enjoyed the pool. It is well kept and I felt that my kids could swim there without worry. Have to provide your own supervision, though, but I would want to do that anyway. It is like an indoor park.
We spent four to five days (some left earlier) and had a great time. The staff was helpful and gave us some good suggestions for sightseeing that our Aunt could get to with her wheelchair. We even saw the infamous "Boot Hill". We had a great family visit and we have already decided to do it again next year. The price for rooms and for meals are very reasonable, Thanks to Dodge House we had a great time. We'll be back next year.

Myself and two friends stayed at the Dodge House during a tour of the historical sites in
Dodge City. When we first arived at the hotel it was late and the clerk behind the desk was in training, O.K. we all have to start some where and enough said about this, we did go down to the bar for a drink before retiring it was so cold in there we could'nt take our coats off (great start) the bartender was friendly and it was time to retire,.Next morning we tried the complimentery breakfast, if the cook was trying to tell us something then a great job she did, on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 1/2. So things are off to a sterling start ( I think) little humor there not much. Next we asked the shuttle driver to take us in to town, all of less than a mile to the destination, thank goodness he was a better driver than the cook was at breakfast.,we did ask the driver that evening to drop us off at a real resteraunt and he was glad to do so, next morning we asked the driver if he could take us back to the resteraunt as one of the guys had forgot something from the night before, at this point here comes the owner ranting a tirade of very uncomplimentary things hurled at our direction, to do this in a lobby with other guests and workers in ear shot of this tirade was a little more than I could bare how rude can a host be? . Well this was our experience at this hotel as for the food one of my friends on the trip is a renowned chef so dont try pulling the Corn Flakes over his eyes.

This place was disgusting!!! The rooms were dirty. Customer service? Does not exist here. Asked for more towels and we were told "good luck". Don't even get me started on the restuarant..... cold, tasteless and didn't feel very good later that night. Please please please save your vacation dollars and time for somewhere else!

Cavernous hotel with the indoor pool in the middle. Lots of noisy kids still in the pool area adjacent to the rooms after posted hours. What passed for the included breakfast was awful with no fruit, no cereal- frozen hash browns and what seemed to be powdered eggs, some gravy and buiscuits-bad. Common areas including the lobby and bar don't seem to have any heat in the winter-very cold inside. Confusion at the front desk upon check-in, they seemed to be trying to train someone while we waited and waited around then the room we booked was not ready. Sorry we encountered the irritable owner at one point, he's not what you would call very diplomatic. About the only highlight here was the absolutely great bartender!

Let me start with the positive first. When we got to check in the desk clerk said the had over booked and they had given us an up grade same cost extra, Jacuzzi in the room, great My husband I were there to celebrate our 20th anniversary . We go to go to our room though entrances one, and the Cleaning staff are sprawled all over the steps blocking the way up, I asked if there was an elevator they said no. I motioned that I needed to get upstairs to my room not one of the four of them did not move just set there. Finally we tried to walk up he leaned a little bit. It was not easy to get by. Lazy and rude are the cleaning staff. Once we got to our room it was great. We decided to just stay and eat at the Hotel and go into the bar for drinks after, we had the Prime rib it was some of the best we ever had and the biscuit/muffin were the best. Lot of food for the money. We then went to the bar which was Gorgeous the bartender Dave was friendly the drinks were reasonable priced. We stayed for quite some time. Great time in the bar.
The next day we got up early around 7 had our free breakfast which was included with room and went sight seeing. When we came back around 3 which is normal check-in time even though we were scheduled for 2 night when we got back to our room the bed was un-made our blankets gone and no towels. We went to the front desk to enquire why, Oh they were just busy but they are (meaning the maids) working on it. We said OK will have a drink in the Bar and wait, we waited about and hour and 15 minutes. Went back up and the just arrived to finish cleaning. Went back down to find out why, and the very incompetent ad some what rude clerk said Well it like I said before there busy. This was unacceptable, we asked to speak to the manager, she said he was with some one and would be with us in a minute. When the manager came he talked to the desk clerk for a moment, walked by us and in passing said my son will be down in a moment to talk to you. After a few minutes the desk clerk calls us up to the desk and hands the phone to my husband. My husband explained the situation and Austin the manager’s son said I will discount the room for you, but that is all he said. It was after 5 when we were able to get into our room.
When it came time for check out the desk clerk was getting all the paperwork we mention the discount that Austin had said he would give us, she said no discount was on there she would have to contact the manager but he was not there yet. We said fine we eat and come back. When we came back the desk clerk said yes she talked to the manager (Austin’s dad) and that the upgraded room they gave us was for the problems we had. We said know that was already given to us prior to any problem. Perturbed the desk clerk, “well now I have to call and wake up Austin to see what he was going to do. When it was all said and done they knocked off $20 off our bill. If our room would have been ready at 4 I wouldn’t have even wanted that, We were not looking for a hand out, just good service which they could not supply.
The customer service is the worst we have ever seen, especially in the management. To not even have the common courtesy to talk to us, but send his son and then he speaks to us on the phone. You have got to be kidding me.
I would defiantly eat there and go to the bar. But that’s about it. The customer service is just Awful.

The restaurant has the best steak in town. The new management has renovated and also hired a top-notch chef. If you want a real steak dinner, check out the Dodge House when you are in the area!

Service was poor at best, food selection was better at McDonalds and tasted like it had been there since Matt Dillon was sherriff.
