“Charming and warm family get away”
Reviewed 8 February 2013 for a stay in January 2013

We visit from Los Angeles each year to see relatives that live in the London area. Recently we have taken to renting VRBO cottages and dragging our extended family OUT of London for a weekend. The Enford Cottage was perfect for 4 adults and 2 children; having 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms is almost unheard of in the area. The cottage itself is fully stocked with very comfortable beds and linens and a complete kitchen. Unexpected amenities such as milk, tea, coffee and FRESH eggs (laid that week by the family’s chickens) made it even more comfortable. The owners could not have been more friendly or welcoming. We were fortunate enough to be there for a fresh blanket of snow which provided for our son’s first opportunity to go sledging. Luckily Mary, family and friends provided us with supplies and invited us along on an adventure. We will never forget it.
The village has a classic British Pub, The Swan, which is so convenient (5 minutes walk even in snow). The husband and wife proprietors are welcoming and the food is outstanding. Just 10 minutes by car is the village of Amesbury where we bought all of our groceries. We love the small village feel and they had everything from wine and cheese to fresh meat and vegetables. There are two pubs across the street from each other, we had lunch at The Ship which was also thoroughly enjoyable (especially the dogs which were most welcome and friendly).
Our family hopes to return to Enford House very soon.

Liked best: Three comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. Also how welcoming the owners were to us.
Liked least: Having to leave was the hardest wish we had booked for a longer stay.

“Great place to stay for all ages”
Reviewed 27 December 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We were travelling with extended family of a variety of ages and we also arrived fairly exhausted and Enford was a perfect place for us to unwind and spend some time together. The table tennis table in the barn kept the older kids amused and the younger ones were on the trampoline a lot. Beautiful garden and beautiful surroundings. We weren't as adventurous from a trips point of view as previous reviewers but we left feeling rejunvenated. Had quite a few meals in both pubs - the Swan and the Red Lion - both excellent - Red Lion a bit more expensive and slightly longer walk to get there but very good food. Cottage was clean and great in every way. Owners live in the house next door - we met them when we arrived and they gave us some veg and eggs from the garden but otherwise we didn't see them much at all but were very useful answering some questions we had about were to go walking etc.

“Beautiful cottage and great location for visiting the west country”
Reviewed 26 December 2012 for a stay in December 2012

We have just come back from a stay at this cottage with some American friends and we all absolutely loved it. Plenty of space for all of us, well equipped and very comfortable beds and 3 bathrooms was a real bonus. Garden is beautiful and our friends loved the thatched wall that surrounds the garden and the gate in the garden wall that leads to the churchyard next door. Location was really convenient for taking them to all sorts of places around the west country - we went to Stonehenge, Lacock, Longleat, Bath, Salisbury Cathedral and Avebury and still had time to relax! Would definetly recommend it

“Beautiful location. Idyllic cottage.”
Reviewed 7 December 2012 for a stay in October 2012

Visited with friends and found the cottage absolutely amazing. Cosy yet spacious and wonderfully comfortable. Plenty of bathrooms which is essential when in a group, a really nice touch for a holiday let. The place was immaculate and the village of Enford is picturesque with a fantastic pub within stumbling distance!

I would have no hesitation in recommending for a break with friends or family. And already have plans to revisit in the spring.

“Really lovely place to chill out”
Reviewed 5 November 2012 for a stay in October 2012

We were a family of 7 - the grandparents had the downstairs bedroom (next to the living room) and the rest of us (parents and 3 kids) had the 2 rooms upstairs and the owners made up a spare mattress for us for the 3rd child

All bedrooms were all very comfortable and ensuite which was great with so many of us, especially when our girls do take extra time in the bathroom!

The kitchen was well-stocked with essentials - tea, coffee, sugar, salt and lots of basic dry goods in the cupboard needed for cooking.

Garden is large - plenty of space for the kids to run around in and they loved the big trampoline and football net and watching the chickens run around. We also liked the fact that the owners lived next door and they were very helpful when we had any questions about where to walk or eat. The house is located next to the church and close to a river and it was so nice to see the ducks and swans on the river

A vehicle is needed to go to the nearest shops which were about 5-10 mins away but a great place to stay if you want to get away from it all
