We decided to go to the much advertised troodos mountain villages. We took the scenic route through the mountains and local villages. Very scenic with some scary roads. We arrived at Troodos village and parked in the car park. We decided to use the public toilets before exploring. We passed a couple of local souvenir shops on our way to the toilets. When we got to the toilets we were absolutely disgusted at the state of them. Some were blocked, some had no toilet seats or toilet paper and there were lots of flies about. Needless to say we didn't use them. My husband assured me that the gents was no better and was several inches deep in water. We beat a hasty retreat, deciding to have something to eat in the hotel and use their facilities, which proved to be a much better option. We ordered a light lunch at the hotel. The food wasn't great and just as we were finishing the heavens opened and the rain came down. We decided to cut our losses, make a run back to the car and return to the sunshine of lower levels. All in all it was a big disappointment and we were just glad we had our own car and were able to leave when we wanted to.
