We stayed at The Old Manse the weekend of 1st - 2nd March and had a lovely stay. We were welcomed by Katie the very friendly and inviting Landlady. We made the trip from South East London due to a family Christening and was well worth the trip. Rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. Bathroom was also newly decorated. Katie was the perfect host providing tea, cakes and a fantastic full English breakfast. Perfect stay!

Mid February may not be the best time to sample the delights of the Gower peninsular particularly when the Atlantic is throwing everything it has at it. We had made our plans and so we arrived on a Friday with horrendous winds and torrential rain, not the best combination for a romantic walking weekend. The welcome at The Old Manse was more than welcome in the circumstances. We caught Katie a little bit on the hop by being blown in several hours before we expected, but she quickly made us feel very welcome and apologised for the bad weather conditions.
Our en-suite room was warm, spacious and comfortable with everything we needed to make us feel at home. Some local knowledge from Katie pointed us in the right direction for an evening meal and the following morning breakfast was perfect and kept us going for the rest of the day.

Gower is lovely and the winter is a great time to see it. The roads and footpaths were quiet, the sea was at it's majestic best and each night when we returned to the Old Manse we felt like we were coming home.

Yes it was a weekend to remember, wasn't it? Actually I think all of Britain suffered from memorably windy wet weather that weekend.
You are also right about Gower being lovely in winter, with extra quiet roads and footpaths; though even in summer it never feels overcrowded, and retains it's unspoilt atmosphere.
Can you tell how much I love it? I hope. you can visit again

Had a fantastic weekend on the Gower recently which was made all the more enjoyable by our stay at The Old Manse in Penclawdd.
Katie made us feel so welcome from the outset with personal touches from friendly advice & recommendations of where to visit over a warming cup of tea on arrival. The home baked cookies, courgette bread and homemade marmalade were to die for. What a breakfast!!, and alongside a fabulous log fire. Would certainly recommend a stay here, the perfect base to explore this beautiful part of Wales.
Many thanks to the lovely Katie for such a memorable stay.
Best Wishes from

We have stayed in many hotels and b+b's. There are those you would recommend to your closest friend or relative and some (too many) that you wouldn't. The Old Manse falls fairly and squarely into the first category. Katie, our new best friend, could not have been more welcoming. The accommodation is comfortable, of a high standard and very well presented. Breakfast could not be bettered and on this occasion almost kept us going until the meal was served at the wedding reception we attended at 5pm that day. Thank you Katie. We will see you again.

Room Tip: Room at the front. Sea view.

Thank you Katie for a very relaxing weekend woth my family. We enjoyed exloring the Gower and it was extra special returning to warm and spotlessly clean rooms. We had very comfy beds each night and a hearty breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning. We enjoyed exploring The Mumbles and sampled a lovely local pub called the King Arthur. We enjoyed all the special touches like homemade breads/biscuits and jams. we enjoyed spending time chatting with Katie and look forward to seeing her again soon :)

Having just returned from two nights at The Old Manse I had to write a review. It made our stay. We felt at home from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Katie really is a really lovely, warm and genuine person. She couldn't do enough for us and we were always eating her homemade cakes and biscuits with copious amounts of tea!! Just wonderful. The photos of the room don't do it justice as they are all gorgeous and cozy- lovely pillows and duvet (very important)
We had a massive bathroom with a HUGE shower and freestanding bath wuth as much bubble bath and lotions and potions as you could want.Possibly more loo rolls would be good but literally that's it!
She was so busy making all the wonderful food and jams so I'm surprised she fits it all in!
Breakfasts are delicious and you can pick exactly what you want. Both days we had fruit and yog, full welsh breakfast, toast with home jams and then courgette cake(WOW!) she also helped us to plan walks and beaches and avoid carpark fees.

Katie is wonderful and we have made a good friend. I wish her every happiness with everything!

We will be back. Everyone else certainly needs to go!!!

We stayed at The Old Manse for 4 nights. The room was lovely and clean. The breakfast was excellent with everything you could ask for and more. Katie was a lovely host, offering good advice on local restaurants and walking routes. An extra treat was the freshly baked biscuits we were given when we arrived back from a busy and active day in the Gower. We will definitely return.
