Fantastic location, the Cockle Shell has all you could want and more. A great location to visit so many amazing beaches on the South coast.

“Superb Stay, Exceptionally Spacious & Great Location”

Absolutely loved this cottage. Such a wonderful warm and comfortable cottage and so deceptively spacious. The cottage doesn't look that much from the road, but go in. It is so spacious, really well decorated with wonderful unique fixtures and fittings. The log burner is perfect if you are staying during anytime but the summer - the crackle logs are so easy to use.
The kitchen is as clean as everywhere else in the house and has all you need if you want to stay in and cook. We were delighted to receive a wonderful welcome tray of goodies including treats for our 2 dogs.
My partner and I travelled over Easter Bank Holiday and had some shocking weather - torrential rain and gusty winds - and found the spacious hallway from the rear entrance really useful for drying off dogs and leaving wet coats and boots etc. The only thing we missed was a tumble dryer!
Bedrooms were comfy and the bathroom was spacious and very clean.
Plenty of car parking was freely available over the road - the road is very busy with a constant stream of traffic so be careful crossing!
Next to the car park is the estuary and you must head here at sunset for some breathtaking photos. You can enjoy great walks to the left and right from here....
We enjoyed chatting with the locals - very friendly and good prices in the pub!
We found the location to be very convenient as we visited all the major areas on the Gower - The Mumbles, Whiteford Bay, Cefyn Bryn, Rhossilli, Three Cliffs, Langland, Caswell Bay - absolutely stunning beaches and fabulous walks!
We would definitely recommend the Cockle Shell - the owners were great in providing comprehensive information on the property and area - we would love to go back!

“Really cosy tardis at the gateway to the Gower”

We really enjoyed our visit to this property over the New Years week. We experienced a week of typically wet Welsh weather, but when the rain let up we were able to visit stunning nearby Gower beaches within half hours drive. It is also really close to Swansea so was perfect to visit our family in the area. On the really wet days there is lots of DVDs, books and games in the house so we enjoyed those with the fire going.

The hosts are fantastic, we were welcomed with goodies including Welsh cakes and cockles and a bottle of wine, and the communication from them was great. The plain exterior of the property hides a really unexpected spacious living area, with a lovely wood burner. We purchased crackle logs from the nearby CJs shop, which has a really good range of food and drink at very reasonable prices. The chip shop is right next door but honestly you would not know it is there until you step outside. We had chips from there one night and they were really good. The play park is opposite with the free car park and is really handy if you have kids.
We would definitely be more than happy to return.

“wonderful, warm, cosy and surprisingly spacious cottage”

We hired this cottage as it's located not far from my mother - we travelled to Wales to celebrate her 70th birthday. The cottage information was very clear and straightforward and the cottage very easily found. The inside seems bigger than possible from the outside and the ground floor is very well laid out. We watched Star Wars films (that we took with us on DVD), and played lots of family games around the coffee table - it was very cosy and warm. It wasn't actually cold enough for us to light the fire. We had fish and chips from Romy's next door, which a lot of people claim to be the best in South Wales - we couldn't fault it. We didn't get to Cariad cafe which is also very close by, but we did have a birthday lunch at the Oxwich Bay Hotel followed by a few hours rock-pooling with all the grandchildren which was good old classic beach fun. All in all, a lovely stay in a great cottage. We will be back.

Liked best: lots of space but cosy, option to have a fire, very clean
Liked least: no mirror in the master bedroom, mirror too high in bathroom for small people!, no coat hooks by front door, no basket/shelf for shoes, could taste the cleaning products on the cups and glasses - but minor quibbles!

“A very comfortable cottage, quirky and 'Tardis' in style!”

Cockle Shell Cottage is extremely comfortable, and quirky in a 'Tardis' style! We had plenty of room, yet felt cosy at the same time, We were only two adults, but a family of four would have plenty of space downstairs to spread themselves around. A handy fish'n'chips shop next door supplied us with one evening meal, and chips to accompany a steak on another occasion. We were completely unaware of any noise or 'fishy' smells from this establishment. Plenty of beaches to visit without having to travel miles, so this cottage is in a good position for getting around the Gower. There was also a very generous welcome tray waiting for us on our arrival. For those with kiddies, there is a small playground across the road, which would help to compensate for the lack of a garden. Modern, clean facilities, but with a homely feel.

I stayed for 3 nights over the easter weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room and seating for everyone - there were 4 of us & we didn't trip over each other. Easily accessible to supermarket & restaurants within walking distance, also a quick drive to Swansea. Would recommend the place to anyone. Only let down was no Internet services.

Had a lovely Valentine's weekend at Cockle Shell cottage. Had a delicious breakfast at Carid Cafe up the road and a beautiful morning walk along Llangennith beach while my boyfriend surfed. We defrosted by the log fire drinking mulled wine after a busy day. Will defiantly will visit again.
