I was taking my three grandsons to visit my sister in New Mexico. I like to stop about half the way there. Usually stay in Pratt, KS but decided to take my business to Greensburg (the town nearly wiped off the map from a tornado.) Booked a room at the brand new Best Western. Found out that it does have a tornado shelter (a definite plus.) Cost for a room with two queen beds was about $127. Kinda high for such a tiny town, but there are not a lot of choices here. We tried to find something to eat; but the choices were very limited. Other than a new Mexican restaurant, the choices were almost non existent, unless you were willing to buy from the Dillons mini-mart. They had bad looking fried chicken and gooey mac and cheese. Also soggy fried potatoes. The room had granite counter tops, flat screen tv, and comfy beds. Most of the customers appear to be blue-collar folks with big trucks. We had the misfortune of having a room next to the parking lot. Heard a lot of engines start and idle for 15-20 minutes. If you want to sleep past 6am, be sure to ask for a room away from the parking lot. Free breakfast but not very tasty. If you are desperate for other meals, you can buy a frozen meal in the hotel lobby and take it back to your room to microwave. First hotel I have seen with that option.
