First time stay at this Residence Inn. Friendly, efficient check in. Clean, comfortable room (including full size oven). Good breakfast selection. What more can you ask for? My wife and I spend time in OP on a regular basis. This will now be our regular place to stay.

I have been staying at the REsidence Inn in Overland Park Kansas for 27 years. The place is well-run, clean, and has good facilities. The staff seem to be plugged in to giving good service and the facilities - particularly in the two bedroom suites are just great. There are good restaurants and good shopping nearby. If you are spending any time in Kansas City in this area, this is well worth a try.

Room Tip: I always ask for a 2 bedroom suite at the back on the ground floor.

If you are staying in KC, the better choice is definitely the Residence Inn at the Country Club Plaza. They do hold their evening reception for more nights that the RI at CC, but the quality is terrible compared to the CC.

The one thing that got me was their "cleanliness" of the rooms. Upon check in, there was a dirty water glass on top of the bathroom sink, which I took to the kitchenette sink and put it on the the counter. When I returned to the room the following evening, the housekeeping staff had put this dirty (clearly, clearly, dirty) glass in the cupboard with all of the clean glasses. That set the tone for the whole week.

If I am back in the area, will definitely not stay here. With that being said, however, the hotel is within walking distance to a Target and a couple of bars; although you will need a car to get around. The water park next door is very nice -- $6 for entry, and the facilities are very cool to refresh after a long day.

I was thoroughly satisfied with the quality of this Residence Inn. While staying here for numerous business trips, I found the rooms comfortable, spacious, and convenient. The efficiency kitchens were always clean, well-appointed, and fully functional. The free wireless internet was very convenient and useful - no trouble with either the connection or speed of service. The hotel staff was always friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated the free breakfast each morning (with was always much more than a simple continental fare) and frequently took advantage of the evening meals.

Room Tip: I stayed here numerous times on business over the course of a year and never had a bad room.

First, the good things about Marriott Residence Inn Overland Park, KS: good location for many purposes. It's the exact residence inn room we have come to expect. King sized bed, good lighting, fairly effective kitchen and bath, space for work vs. sleep. Decent rate of $113 weekends, considering free parking and free wifi and supposed free breakfast and evening snacks. Appears recently renovated on the rooms level, with good cleanliness upon arrival. Now the not so goods: with the exception of the front office (male) managers, nearly every employee we encountered was rude, ill communicating, weird and apparently unsupervised. I don't think most of them like people very much, or understand Marriott service standards. Front desk check in was confusing as hell - we finally asked for someone to show us the way because the description of parking and renovation challenges made it impossible to figure out the room location. NP, once the manager explained things to us, our room was easy enough to find. Morning breakfast was appallingly chaotic, with two staff members removing buffet items right out from under us and several other visitors who did not know in advance that 10 am SHARP was closing, all cleaned up, done time. It was crowded and crazy the second morning at 9am, with kids zipping everywhere and grown adults zipping everywhere, needing to make multiple visits between table and buffets to secure everything needed. Forks in one place, knives in another, spoons elsewhere, breads over there, eggs over here, fruit here or there and good luck locating the yogurt OMG now I have to find a spoon, wait the knives are over there by the salsa, not by the bread or butter, holy cow, that waffle area looks good but those ladies from the wedding party are sure making a mess of it, hey, where's the help? Deep breath - amazingly stressful both days for what could have been an easy weekend morning. Especially since the maid chose to knock at 8am - hate it when that happens on a weekend when we've just arrived from the West Coast late the night before. Sorry we forgot that do not disturb sign, never dreaming you would dare to wake so early. On this particular weekend, the hotel appeared to be very full, yet parking lot striping went on for two days and eliminated half the parking. And the parking at Springhill Suites next door was also exhausted. Bad planning, with no remedy when we needed to find a spot for the car at midnight, competing with several inebriated wedding party guests. Seems it would have been easy and way less dangerous to make a plan and communicate with guests on just what to do when all parking was taken (or to find striping people who got it done differently). There was also a frighteningly bad smell upon arrival and through Saturday, we are guessing from some sort of fertilizer, or perhaps the striping. Most of the bads were either situational and could have been eliminated with some planning and communication - or easily fixed with a bit of service/attitude/guest understanding training. Maybe it's different for guests who stay for weeks at a time. For this weekend visit, it was not a good Marriott experience and that's a shame.

We had a 2 bedroom suite on the 2nd floor. 2 grandparents, 2 adults, 2 kids, and the purpose of our visit was a baseball tournament.
The most remarkable thing about our stay was the front desk staff. I don't remember a more personable, helpful and pleasant staff anywhere we've stayed.
The basketball courtyard was extremely useful to our kids.
Breakfast included dozens of options, and was kept very clean. We've already booked our next stay.

Stayed here one night on a family trip across Missouri. This property was as I expected from a Residence Inn. The gentleman at the front desk was kind enough to upgrade us to a two bedroom suite which made our stay even more comfortable. The room was very clean and when we requested them, extra towels were provided quickly. The breakfast area was crowded as it is very popular but we were able to fill our plates and find comfortable seating. The hallways did have a funny smell and we noticed either a dehumidifier or air purifier in the hallway but once we were in the room we didn't notice the smell. The beds were very comfortable. Other than a stray cheeto in the elevator, everything seemed fine.
