Stayed for one night in cottage number 6. Nice to stay in such an old building with a real sense of history. Bed was comfy and things were clean and seemed well kitted out. Road is really noisy in the day but by evening it quietened down and there were pretty much no cars over night. The cottage itself was great but the stay was spoilt by the motel behind - I admit we were staying for a night over the Easter weekend which is probably not great but the noise from one of the rooms or rather balconies was ridiculous. The balcony is above the cottage and the sky lights mean the noise is amplified and can’t be closed - resulting in hearing the guests word for word as if they were in the kitchen. Noise/music/shouting went on until well after midnight. The website for the cottages acknowledges the close proximity of the rooms and asks that guests respect this and keep noise to a minimum especially after 10pm. This is great however it’s pointless when the motel rooms/balconies are right over the cottage roofs. Such a shame as the cottage itself was quiet and peaceful with a great location.
Walked to a nearby cottage where other friends were staying and then across to Leonards Mill for an exceptional meal.
And so close to the Second Valley unique swimming beach.
The place is steeped in history but it's a converted old building so don't expect everything to be perfect. The doorways are low and the walls rough and white washed. The rooms are small but have everything you need and a comfy bed. Ours didn't have much of a kitchen so if you want to cook ensure you get one with a full stove. Still Leonard's Mill is just accross the road if you want to eat out. Great for a one or two night stay.
enjoyed a lovely time in suite 4.one of the smaller suites but most adequate and well fitted out with a quaint ambience . We enjoyed the closeness to Leonard's Mill across the road and the worlds class food offered. We also enjoyed the cooked breakfast in the beautiful courtyard the next morning and trip to the lovely beach close by . Only an hour from Adelaide . A great place for a short or long stay to get away from the hectic pace of city life. Will return .
