We recently stayed here and honestly it was absolutely terrific. The place is a little hard to find but once you get there, its more than worth the effort. The grounds are spectacular and our room was charming. The thing that really makes the place is the staff. SImply terrific, accommodating, welcoming and they really do treat you like family I would recommend this place to any and all for a real taste and experience of Tuscany.

Imagine slowly driving through woods, approaching the charming stone buildings of a Tuscan villa- that's Ricavo! We stayed here for five nights in a superior room with a lovely view sunrise breaking over the countryside, and our terrace just perfect for the two of us to share a glass of wine or picnic lunch. The buffet breakfasts were more than plentiful and fortified us for our busy days of sightseeing. After our daily adventures in Tuscany it was nice to come back to such comfortable surroundings. We enjoyed a couple of dinners at the restaurant which were well prepared and expertly served. They were a little more than we usually would spend, but very delicious. What most impressed us about Ricavo, however, was the staff. The management was excellent and other personnel couldn't have been more helpful, considerate and courteous. Christina approaches hosting with gentle graciousness and her front desk crew were just spot on!
Although tucked off the main Chianti track, we did not find Ricavo to be remote. In fact, from this location we easily made several day trips (as far as Umbria and Volterra) and the desk employees' excellent directions and mapping insured our success finding our way! We highly recommend this gem on your Tuscan tour!

Room Tip: I don't think there's a "bad" room! You'll be very pleased, no matter which room you get!

Delighting in the most amazing location of peace and friendliness, we have enjoyed the hospitality of the Tenuta several times now.
Spacious and comfortable rooms with great views, the estate and its buildings are full of character with beautiful drawing rooms/library and a delightful dining room.
Breakfast on the terrace (with variety to satisfy most palates) and drinks in the evening by the lit fireplace in the great hall, all these in mid-May.
The Tenuta has everything we need: an excellent kitchen, perfect location for reaching the most interesting and beautiful sites in Italy - as well as two swimming pools and a large estate for long walks without having to leave the premises.
And the best are the friendly and seriously welcoming staff.
We shall return.

Room Tip: State your requirements - and you will get the best room.

Once you actually find Tenuta di Ricavo, it is a very charming introduction to the Chianti region. Beautiful, spacious rooms make the stay quite comfortable. The dining room was a bit overpriced.
The staff were all helpful and could make great recommendations for any of your interests. We took a great cooking class while there at Casanuevo di Ricavo, which was just down the road. One of the highlights of our trip. The town of Castellini is also a charming place to spend some time. Great shops with reasonable prices. Overall, a strong recommendation.

First time in Tuscany, first time at the Tenuta di Ricavo. We were looking for a quiet, typically tuscan place to relax from the hussle and bussel in Naples. And right in the Chianti-Country, almost hidden and surrounded with lovely landscapes and an amazing view we found what we were longing for. We stayed for 5 nights and every morning, after a wonderful breakfast (which made our day already!), we went to explore Tuscany. And we were right in the middle of it. Even the Ricavo is a little out of the way, it is only a 1 kilometer drive out of a wonderful, tree- lined way and there you are, right in the heart of Chianti and its amazing scenery. We also had a wonderful Dinner at their "Pecora nera" Restaurant, the food is amazing and all to a reasonable price. Just try it. Trust me, you want be disappointed.
Christina, you and your stuff doing a wonderful job and we definitely will come back. We felt so much welcome, it's like a home away from home. Our room and the lovely balcony with the wonderful view was just right for us.
The book you gave us, i read it in one day. I loved it and just couldn't stop reading. Now i do appreciate your place even more. Thanks for everything. A presto!

Room Tip: Prior to your stay just contact the Ricavo and tell them what you are looking for and they will pick the write one for you. We stayed in the little house close to the parking space, it was nice and quiet.
