“How can such excellent seafood by found in Wichita, Kansas?!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2012

I love this place. The food, the service, the atmosphere, and the way this restaurant is run. It is a top notch seafood restaurant in Wichita, Kansas. I try to eat here everytime I am in town to visit my grandmother. This time I had just come from a lot of travel, and a lot of fine dining. It was just before Valentine's day and they had gotten some black cod in. I ordered the prix fix menu they were going to serve for Vday. For $45 I dined like a queen...3 courses (including the black cod) served with 4 wine pairings. It was the best meal I have had in months. Again, I love this place.

“Service = C+, Food = B+, Atmosphere = A”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2012

Great setting but the service distracted from making this an excellent night out for our anniversary.

Service = C+
Service was weak from the beginning -- waiter asked if this was our first visit and because it was he briefly covered the menu. He seemed nervous and flustered -- he could not answer questions about the menu and did not offer to get the answers. (For example, there was a drink listed on the website but not on the in-restaurant menu & the waiter said he'd never heard of it...didn't offer to ask the bar about it.)

Our appetizer arrived before we even had been served water or plates provided -- this was at least 15 minutes after we were seated.

After taking our drink order, waiter returned to say they were out of the strawberry tequila in the drink I'd ordered. BTW, that ingredient was in at least 4 of the listed cocktails & it was 6:30 on a Saturday night! Ordered a Cherry Rock Out martini instead & it was delicious.

Food =B+
I will give credit that the food came out quickly, hot and presentation was excellent. All four of us liked the entrees we selected but they didn't wow us into wanting to visit again soon. The ladies were fine with portion sizes (scallops for one entree, salmon over ravioli for one entree) but the guys felt their portions were on the small side (surf/turf for one entree, fettuccine alfredo with shrimp for one entree). The menu is fun and lots of unique options, especially for seafood in Wichita. Calamari appetizer was very good - more steak-like and more appetizing to look at than some other restaurant versions. We also had two desserts -- great presentation but as for taste, good but not great.

Cost -- we spent $100 before tip for an appetizer, two drinks, two entrees and one dessert. The other couple spent about the same amount.

Atmosphere = A
Loved the dining room ambiance and the view at Bradley Fair. It was a very unhurried dining experience. They take reservations and we were seated promptly when we arrived.

Overall, a nice option in a great atmosphere for Wichita. They are trying to offer an upscale experience but not quite executing the total package.

“A perfect Christmas Eve”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2012

New in the community we had heard Newport Grill was good, if not a bit pricey. We made a reservation for Christmas Eve when our our kids would be here from college in Nashville. We were all amazed by the service, beverages and food. It exceeded our expectations, especially for a Holiday when some servers could be pushing you out the door. We are from NY and have traveled and eaten in some of the finest restaurants around. This was in the top for sure. We will be back soon!

“delicious mean and good service.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2012

Will surely have dinner here next time I am in Wichita, KS. Since I was alone had a table in the bar area. The service was quite good as was the meal. The place is a bit on the pricy side but well worth it. They do offer house wine by the glass but if you order from the wine list you get about a glass and a half to two glasses per serving. Main courses were anywhere from 19 to over 48 for some of the steak dishes. But since this is a seafood place, those were between 19 and 39. On the Thursday night I went, there was no need to make reservations. The tomato bisque was nice and the serving was too large for an appetizer. Salmon main course was prepared to order and was excellent.
