“Pleasant Stay”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

We were very lucky to happen on to this hotel on a week-end that had very few available rooms in Wichita. Check in went quickly; the clerk was pleasant and helpful. The room was quite clean; the beds, comfortable. Breakfast was as good as most. And the price was right even though with the busy week-end, they could have charged more. All-in-all very pleasant!

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor and had no noise problems above nor below.

I have to say none of the staff were particularly friendly. My sleep was intermittently disrupted by an airplane flying over the hotel and by untimely joyous bar patrons (a bar is right next to this hotel). Waffle was nice as breakfast, but I expected more from what they advertized as "continental" breakfast.

The rooms were clean. Average size for this type of hotel. The night clerk (after 3 pm) is the only one there so she closes the check in desk with glass doors and forces you to use a slot for your cards and information. She does not understand the concept of customer service.

Breakfast - or what they call it - was a joke. Cold biscuits, a few pastries, horrible coffee and a crock pot to heat up the gravy. No source of protein that I could find (unless you call the mystery meat in the gravy protein).

No pool and the exercise room is about the size of the bathroom so don't think you will be doing much in the way of exercising.

While it it located right off of Hwy 54/400, if you are traveling west you will have to make a u-turn and cross 3 lanes of traffic to get to the hotel.

I would pay more to stay anywhere else.

We spent 4 nights at the Wichita Inn recently. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was courteous and helpful. The location is fabulous -- close to shopping, restaurants, the airport, entertainment -- and to Kellogg (Hwy 54 / 200) which is the main east-west road in the city. Right across the street from world-famous Shepler's Western Wear. In spite of being right in the center of Wichita activity, the rooms were quiet and parking was easy. Families staying in Wichita will want to know that this Wichita Inn has "family rooms" available -- with 3 queen beds -- and for only $10 more than other regular rooms. For those travelling on a budget, this is a terrific option. They offer a continental breakfast and free in-room Wi-Fi, microwave ovens and refrigerators. Very definitely a nice place to stay that should be at the top of the list of consideration for all who plan a stay in the Wichita area!!

We stayed here for just the one night in the last couple of weeks and for the rate we paid, I can't really fault the hotel. The room was spacious and clean, with a sufficient continental breakfast on offer, however, I cannot say the same about Ginger, a horrible, rude and arrogant old lady that was running the front desk at the time.

On the morning I was due to check out, I happened to be using the internet on the hotel's computer in the lobby at around 8am. There were several other guests also sitting around in the lobby, and all of a sudden to my complete surprise and disgust in addition to the other guests, I heard a very loud and noticeable burp emerge from Ginger sitting behind the front desk. I challenged her by asking her seriously (knowing full well she was guilty of this) if she was the guilty party that 'let the burp go' so to speak', to which she arrogantly replied 'I didn't realise there was anybody there'!? Oh, I see, I get it, it would have been ok had no-one been present in the lobby right? I couldn't believe the response, so I thought I'd write about here in the hope that the manager reads this and deals with this disgusting woman and teaches her the basics of simple manners when conducting one's self in a hotel lobby, work capacity or not.

Furthermore, upon asking 'Ms Burphead' for a copy of my receipt for my one night stay, I was suddenly met with an extremely confrontational stance giving me nothing but a bad attitude about the fact that I couldn't have one due to the fact I had booked through a third party. The response from this woman was anything but polite and damn right offensive as if I had done something wrong by making such a simple request.

Jackie, if you're still the manager, I would have a serious chat with Ginger here as she needs to be disciplined on these points and if she doesn't still get it, then let her go, as I have never come across such a display in any hotel in all of my life.

Used one of the"online" booking sites. Got a fair price online, not sure what the "walk up" price would've been? Very nice building, parking lot and the location is good.
Very busy part of Wichita, rite along the freeway service road and very close to the airport. However this makes it easy for the traveler. Plenty of parking for autos, motorcycles, and RVs. They also have airport shuttle service for the customers.
Located on Dugan Road and the south outer road of Hwy 54/400
