I've just returned from a 3 day stay
in Bardstown. A beautiful City.
Enjoyed the carriage ride and tales fm the driver, Civil War
museaum and old villiage. A short drive to KY railroad shops and Model RR center.I did not get into Ole Ky Home, had to leave something for next
trip.
The Old Talbot Tavern"Great food
Wonderfull service. Try to get
Billie or Heather, they made the
meal a pleasure with their good spirits and great personalitys.
Heather took us on a tour of the upstairs rooms and related very
interesting storys about the Resident Goasts and her personal
encounters with them. I will go
again and look forward to my next meal there.Great cobbler and rolls.

Stayed here on the last night of our honeymoon in late Sept. Neat place, Bardstown has a lot of stuff to do--distilleries, museums, scenery, etc. The downstairs bar was loud, so we joined them. Breakfast was chintzsy.

We visited the Talbott Tavern a couple years ago for a nice Dinner and was so pleased we decided to bring another couple to show them how nice it was. This time I was very dissatisfied. The hostess was not very freindly, the prices were high for the amount and quality of food we recieved. We were at the Bourban Festival Sep 2004 with six couples and we did not recommend it to them. Although this is a nice historical place to visit and learn about, I do not recommend dinning here.

The rooms are a step above a chain (very comfortable bed), but the service was rather abrupt -- not exactly down right rude, but certainly not welcoming either. We gave our name at the front desk and were immediately asked to sign a noise waiver and pay our room rate before we could say another word or were given a key. Slam bam, pay the ma'am! Not knowing the area, we had dinner here as well -- the food is quite good -- but again, the service was rushed and half hearted. We literally couldn't find anyone around the next morning (9:30 am) to ask about breakfast so we dropped our key on the desk and ended up eating at the coffee shop in town (I think it's called the Java Joint)-- great place with a neat back room and very friendly people-- the best part of our stay in Bardstown! All in all, the Old Talbott Tavern could be worse, but it could also be much much better- especially in the 'hospitality' department We felt like we were an inconvenience, not a guest. Also, beware if there is a band -- it can be very loud.

Everything about the place was great. A lot of interesting things to see, read, hear and experience at this astablishment. It was very exciting hearing from our waitress about the history of the Old Talbat Tavern and the people who stayed there in the past. We were even able to tour the rooms and other parts of the astablishment. A special thanks to our hostess/waitress for making our visit there so welcoming....we will be back again and again. thank you, A.M.B.
