“Good medicine, not so great bedside manner”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

No complaints about the room, breakfast, beds -- all just fine -- and the price was okay, but the counter folks didn't seem to be able to make their keys work and were quite unapologetic, even after we had to come back to the office three times, at having failed to explain that there was a "reset" function on the door handle, which would have made getting into our room take one minute instead of 15. Rude, especially by normally extra-polite Kentucky hospitality standards.

Understand that there are no Hyatts or Marriott properties in this region. So, choices are limited if you aren't a BB fan.
I am not a big fan of hotels without hallways/corridor--whose doors open directly to the outside. I am not a big fan of older hotels who appear to have seen better days. I am not a big fan of hotels with peeling paint on the room doors.
BUT, BUT..somehow with this property, none of that mattered. The setting was peaceful, the staff was outstanding, the beds were incredibly comfy and perfectly clean. There is a convenient tiny fridge and microwave which was a nice touch--and the free wi-fi though slow was a great surprise. The location was great. The breakfast wasn't anything to write home about...BUT taking the paper and a cup of coffee to sit in the wooden gazebo made for a great start of the day.
Price with tax was a bit over $100 which speaks to the touristy bent and lack of options in this area. I would have expected this hotel with the aged, no-frills room to be more on the price level of a Motel 8 if it had been somewhere else.
BUT, you know what? I would stay here again! Somehow it just feels right and there's nothing like a clean room, comfortable bed and friendly faces while on vacation!

Room Tip: Try to get a room near the gazebo..watch the sunset or have morning coffee there. It's also clos...

always stay at this motel to go to the Stephen Foster Play. Location is great & has a bus to pick you up for the play. Husband likes the Stephen Foster restaurant right beside you. Don't even have to get your car out.

I held a week-long seminar in Bardstown, KY and we filled the Best Western. I received no complaints from those that stayed, and everyone was very happy with their room as far as I know. Some comments I received were "my room was a quiet retreat away from a very busy week", and "I've already booked my room for next year I was so comfortable this year!" I would easily recommend this property to anyone wanting a very comfortable bed and a good location for any length stay.

The entire town was full & I was lucky to find a room. The week before I'd spent in Hamptons & HInnExpresses. Was worried I wouldn't be comfortable. Not to worry. I don't like those memory foam mattresses, but found the other side of the bed was ok. Room was clean, bathroom well-equipped & clean. Microwave & Fridge (not all Hamptons have them.). Wifi. Everything I wanted & needed. They don't have an elevator. I can no longer drag equipment upstairs, so I would've needed to go to another town if they hadn't had a downstairs room for me. But, they did and my week was very comfortable. Thanks to a cheerful, helpful staff.
