“Relaxing hotel in the heart of Berea”
Reviewed 23 January 2013

We decided to check out Berea's art shops and the Boone Tavern, we had heard that it had a few ghost sitings too. The hotel is very clean, food is really good and the staff is polite. The shops around the hotel are nice and we loved the Candy shop around the corner.

Our room was huge with jacuzzi tub, towel warmer and tv. I didn't get to take a bath since we were only there one night.

Breakfast and Dinner were awesome, I had the pancakes with crumbled back for breakfast and the verde chicken for dinner. The chocolate cake was awesome, we shared a piece and couldn't finish it.

Old Berea had a ton of shops a short drive away and the ones that were open had cool things to purchase. Unfortunately January seems to be their "off season" as many shops were closed.

No doubt this should be a stop on your list of places to visit. The food was great, but a bit pricey. The fudge shoppe is the best i have ever had! The staff are very professional but also students of Berea college. Which i really think is great teaching tool

This lovely historic in in the heart of Berea is stAffed by Berea College students. One might expect that college students might not make the best hospitality workers, but we were extremely impressed with the genuinely courteous, respectful and competent service. We visited during the Christmas week, when the inn was full, and observed the students handling any number of stressful situations with calm good sense and impeccable manners.

The rooms were comfortable, featuring tempur-pedic mattresses and nice linens, and beautiful furniture and throws that are hand made by the Berea students. Individual room temperature controls were a nice touch.

The breakfast in the hotel restaurant is wonderful.

This was our third visit to this hotel, and we will definitely return.

Thank you for your recent review of our hotel. The students of Berea College value hard work and dedication to all aspects of life. I wanted to let you know that the students also made the furniture in the guest rooms and well as the tables in the dining room. The wood that they used is from the Berea College forest. We are glad that you enjoyed your visit and we hope to see you in the future.

Clean, historical Inn in the center of Berea, Kentucky. The staff were students from the local college who provided excellent service. The town and campus were great to walk and wineries for dinner and drinks just a few miles away.
Well worth a get-away visit in our heartland. Food was adequate.

We appreciate your review. I wanted to let you know that the college also offers tours of the college campus given by Berea College students. That may be something that you would be interested in on your next visit. Please visit our website; we have great deals going on for the winter months. Hope to see you soon!

Overall this was a very good hotel and we had a wonderful time. The staff was nice and very helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and overall the entire experience is much more like a B&B. We would echo a few other comments regarding lots of noise from the hallway penetrating the room, therefore our low sleep quality rating. There appears to be no true seal around the old wooden doors. Amazing how inconsiderate fellow travelers can be at times. We noted the hotel has gone 'green' in the past few years. With that there are a few minor annoyances, the sinks basically provide very little water and take forever to get hot - hint - turn on the tub faucet for two minutes to get hot water to the room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the third floor.

Thank you for your review. I noticed that you referred to us as a B&B. I love that! We often refer to the hotel as a big house since it was built in 1907 by Berea College students. That may also explain the noise. We do apologize for that and hope to see you back soon.

We stayed at the hotel on our way back from doing the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. We had reserved the smallest room and found upon arrival that we had been upgraded to a king suite which was a large, beautifully furnished room on the second floor overlooking the church. We did not have any problem with room temperature and appreciate the "green" designation. The service in the dining room was attentive and the food was commensurate with the price. Our only regret is that we did not time our visit well and the craft shops and studios in the town were not open. (We were there on Christmas Eve.)

This is a large old house that has quite a history of famous visitors. Unfortunately, my mother and I stayed there during a very large wedding. It was noisy to sleep, heat was not working well in the small room and my mother was cold. Lots of noise from the hallway penetrated the room. Staff was courteous, but not outstanding. When asked about eating arrangements other than the expensive dining room was told there was some fast food places back towards the interstate. This stay sounded exciting, but was not worth the money.

Thank you for your review. We are always looking for ways that we can improve. I want to apologize for the noise. We do host wedding receptions in the dining room from time to time but they end promptly at 11:00pm. Berea offers several places to eat around the square and I wish they would have referred you to one of those. I will personally look in to this and I hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future.
