Our third stay in this fully renovated, historic property while attending my wife's college reunion was most enjoyable. A truly historic property on a historic square surrounded by the beautiful, historic Berea College with an excellent resturant makes our next visit something to look forward to. Quiet, polished and comfortably furnished with rocking chairs on the porch this quaint inn whispers southern hospitality just one mile but 100 years from the the interstate. Of note, this hotel is surrounded by first quality craft shops, furniture galleries and Warren Mays stringed instrument shop.

Room Tip: Third floor, campus side is very serene.

What a wonderful review! Thank you! We are glad that you enjoy your stay here at the Tavern and look forward to seeing you on your wife's next reunion or sooner! We love visiting with past students and hearing their stories of when they attending Berea College and worked at the Tavern!

This is my second visit to the property and it has retained its original charm. If you need to be located in town this is the place to be. Everything is located within walking distance. The rooms are small but adequate with nice furnishings. The restaurant has an interesting menu but some may find it too formal and pricey. For me, I love the whole experience.

Trip advisor doesn't allow for a half star but my rating here would be 3 1/2 stars. This is a quaint old hotel that has been updated and the service is very friendly and attentive. The room was basically clean with great furniture made on the Berea College campus. Shower kind of wimpy and only one little bar of soap and that was at the sink! Nice towels. No vanity in bathroom -- hard to store toiletries. Internet worked well. Cleverly there is a little desk between the beds (instead of a night stand) but there's no place to plug anything in such as laptop, phone, etc. When they did the remodeling this is a pretty significant omission. The heating and air conditioning was difficult to adjust. The room also had a bit of a musty odor. A good thorough deep cleaning might help. It wasn't a smoky smell but just a bit musty. The room keys are more old fashioned. We did have an issue -- despite the "do not disturb" sign on the door the "goes services" guy was knocking on it while we tried to sleep. (Thought you had to be able to read to get into college! Lol.) Good beds and otherwise we slept well. The restaurant has good but pricey food in pleasant surroundings with a great staff -- students who are working for their education. There are crafts made by students on sale although I would also think that in today's world they might update what is offered to be more aligned with contemporary tastes and educational needs.

Thank you for your feedback concerning your recent stay. It was fair and balanced and we are reviewing your comments with our staff, regarding the room air quality and the do not disturb sign issue. We are in the process of planning for our next major room upgrades and the bathroom vanity and guest room layout is part of that discussion. Part of our commitment to operating the hotel in an eco- friendly manner, was to reduce the amount of wasted soap from partially used bars. We are taking steps to increase the amount of soap for our guest rooms. We are also checking the shower head in the room to insure that it is working properly. Our efforts to operate the hotel in an environmentally friendly way is an honest effort to reduce our carbon footprint, reduce energy costs, and reduce items going to our landfills. None of our decisions are based on trying to short change the guest experience or to look skimpy. We sincerely thank you for your comments and value you as a guest.

Our group of approximately 25 had 2 business meetings, which fortunately included the pleasure of an overnight stay, at the Boone Tavern. The spacious guest rooms and gathering areas of the hotel are beautifully decorated. Our business meeting needs were attended to very well, although the room setup for the second day's meeting could have been coordinated a little better by adding more chairs. Kyle, who served breakfast and lunch in the meeting room, did an excellent job. The food for each of the 3 meals was delicious- favorites included the spoon bread, orange marmalade salad dressing, mashed potatoes, and cheesecake with blueberry topping. The gift shop has plenty of unique items for sale from nearby Berea College, and a challenging game of Skittles to play! The gift shop clerk went above and beyond when we asked for chilled bottles of water, after returning from a walking tour of the college- they were out of water in the gift shop, so he jogged over to the front desk to retrieve some for us. All other staff displayed this excellent service attitude, and it was much appreciated!

Boone Tavern is part of the beautiful Berea College facility, in the small town of Berea, Ky. What a really neat place to spend a bit of time. The minute we pulled up to the hotel we could feel the history. Classic, handsome building with big pillars and a front porch. Upon check-in, we were handed our room keys..And they were really KEYS!! We reserved a king room, and were very happy with the accommodations. The room was clean and nicely appointed with furniture crafted right on the campus. The bed was comfortable, and the bedding warm and cozy. The bathroom was plenty big and clean as well, with a walk-in shower and high quality, certified "green" soaps and shampoo. The staff, as we are told, is mostly made up of college students.
We only have a couple of observations.. The young man who greeted us at the front door was more than polite, but the young woman at the front desk was oddly cold. Efficient, not rude, but cold. Maybe it was an off night for her. That would certainly not keep us from visiting again. The second is the noise of the a/c. Pretty loud but tolerable.
The place, in a nutshell, is a great old hotel. Well worth the drive, and helps support the original intent of the college. Look it up.. it's a great piece of history.

The Boone Tavern is truly an amazing hotel. There is no doubt about it, it is simply a palace. Each room provides very high quality showers with multiple features. The bathrooms are all very welled cleaned and spotless. When sleeping in the beds, I felt as though I were sleeping on clouds. If you are staying in Berea, then I highly recommend staying in the Boone Tavern. It is an adventure filled with discoveries that are worth finding.

Old an historic hotel, the room we stayed in was a king an the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a large spa tub, very clean and nice fixtures. Had a little problem with the one cup coffee maker. The room next door must have had company in their room because they were up until 2am talking loud. Such a shame people have no respect for others.Other wise this is a great stop over and the quit sample trail east is wonderful to see all the samples painted on barns and school house.
