“Family Time”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

The reviewer who said this place is for partiers and dopers is being ridiculous! We are locals and stay here regularly, and this is NOT that kind of hotel!! We have never seen or heard that kind of people here! With that being said, when there are special events in town, and our town has a lot of them, sure, this hotel, like every other hotel in town, gets a little noisy. Big deal. The last few years that this hotel was Best Western, the quality of service and facilities were declining greatly. The new owners and employees are enthusiastic and motivated, and yes, they will tell you straight up that they are "in transition" and working hard to get The Greenwood up to a much higher standard, but it takes time. Also, like every other hotel, the pool rooms are always the most "beat up." Ask for a non-pool room and you will see what I mean. That's everywhere. And no, we don't work here or know anyone who works here personally. Now for a pretty decent list of pros and cons from frequent travelers and guests of this hotel.

PROS:
Affordable (always use a travel coupon!)
Very family-friendly
Nice saltwater indoor pool and hot tub
Game area with pool tables
Nice outdoor pool
Super friendly and accomodating staff
Good location
Conveniently attached via hallway to Denny's Restaurant

CONS:
Breakfast is ridiculous (2 bland cereals, bagels, small muffins. OJ, milk, coffee)
Sometimes rooms and pool area are cleaner than others
Pool area and games area close at 10:00 p.m. sharp; 11:00 or 12:00 would be better

For $45, it's overall a great deal for family fun!

Other than the front desk clerks, who were very friendly... I would not recommend this hotel .
Rooms were not clean, sheets were stained. Pool had an overwhelming smell of ammonia to it.
This is a place that caters to party people. Drunks and dopers.
Would not recommend staying here.

I stayed here attending a sci-fi convention. We can get a little loud, and some people might be turned off by our large group. Not The Greenwood. We were welcomed with open arms and treated fantastically. The staff was always ready to help while remaining unobtrusive. I'd encourage anyone looking for a great hotel to stay here.

Under new management. We stayed here for a convention in February and a wedding in March. The staff was fantastic and very accommodating. If there were any problems they addressed them very quickly. We will be back!

Were do I even start? We requested a room by the pool when we made our reservations; however upon opening the door the room had not bed cleaned from the last occupants. Let me add that we got here about 6:30 pm. So my husband went to the front desk and told them about the room, they apologized, and gave him another room down a hall from the pool, but when he went to check it out there was a dog in the hall that started growling at him, so back to the front desk where they told him there were no more room available pool side because the furniture had been moved out of most of them because they were going to be having some kind of sales event. So we got a room got a room up on the second floor. We started noticing things, like the toilet had not been cleaned, no guest information book, phone book was from 2012, 2 of the eclectic outlet covers are broken, the water pressure leaves much to be desired (unless of course you like a little sprinkle). When these things were pointed out to the person at the front desk their responds was "we are transitioning".

We stayed here a couple of years ago when it was the Best Western and liked the lay out and that is why we chose to stay here again, but I can tell you we will not be back.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

After driving 12 hours from West Palm Beach,Fl. , we found this hotel in one of the magazines you get at the welcome centers. It said $49.00 per night. From past experience, this sounded pretty scary. What a surprise. The night desk clerk was very friendly, and helpful. He gave us a king room with microwave and fridge, and poolside for $45.00 total. Very nice room, bed was super comfortable.and very clean all around. We did not stay for breakfast, but we will indeed stay here again either on our way to or from Florida next winter..or both.
