Stayed here two nights in a cabin for a family reunion. We love that there are culdasacks of cabins so we can all be near each other.

We had a standard two-bedroom cabin (NOT Executive). We arrived around 11:30 and the cabin was already ready for us. They service them at 9am each morning.

The cabin was very clean and well-kept. All the simple ammennities you need are there, fridge, stove, microwave, beds, TVs in every room, clean bathroom with shower, ample storage space and a nice outdoor space.

The beds were soft and comfortable, as were the pillows.

The outdoor space consisted of a concrete slab with picnic table, grill and fire pit (grill in fire pit too!). It is right out the back door of the cabin. Our cabin had a view of the lake from the bedrooms and the fire pit.

The area was SUPER quite. We didn't hear anyone from any other cabins making noise. We also couldn't hear outdoor noise from inside the cabin!

General Butler is easy to get to from several directions. There is a Wal-Mart nearby for all your personal needs.

There are also many options in town for food. Chinese, Mexican, Pub/Sports Bar, Pizza, etc.

We recommend "Down on Main Street" in downtown Carrollton.

Overall this is a nice getaway spot for family/friends who just want to hang out by a campfire but prefer to not to sleep in tents.

Room Tip: Cabin 516 faces the Lake!

This state park lodge has it all. I stayed here for 3 night during the July 4th weekend. Check in on Thursday was quick and efficient, directions to my room seemed confusing but nevertheless I found it.

My room was comfortable and clean and included a small balcony facing into the forest. Some of the amenities such as mini-frig, desk and chair or large tv that you would expect at a big name hotel are missing but keep in mind this is a state park hotel and lodge.

The swimming pool is wonderful and as is the view of the forest valley from the lodge or restaurant.

Thank you to the hotel, lifeguard and restaurant staff for working on the holiday so that I could enjoy mine.

My friend and I stayed in the lodge at the park and found it to be very nice. The staff were helpful, and check in was easy. The room was nice. Plenty of room, clean and comfortable. Our room overlooked the pool which was nice. We had a balcony and were able to sit outside and read and just enjoy the time away from the city. This is NOT the Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons, but for a nice weekend it was perfect. There is plenty to do in the area, but mostly a nice place to spend time relaxing with a loved one.

For summer vacation this year, we decided to go somewhere close. We arrived at general butler state resort park on Monday, June 16, and found that the check in office was 2 miles from the front entrance and a mile from where our cottage house was located. Also, we found it impossible to use most of the utilities in the house without almost breaking something I. The process. As for the activities on the property, the recreational building was half a mile from the check in office and concealed behind a bunch of trees. The pool Was behind the office, and the so called "lifeguards" didn't even do their job. I witnessed a little boy almost drown, and they just sat there on there cellular telephones the whole time. We intended to stay an extra day in their lodge, where there's free wifi, but we found out, at the last minute, that the lodge room we were going to book had no sofa, no refrigerator and no microwave. For that reason, we booked a room at another hotel nearby. I wouldn't recommend staying in their lodge. Please read everything before you book your room.

Full service lots available, water, sewer, electric and more space than usual between lot. The lodge is nice and clean. Beautiful over look into a valley. Not a large park but just right if you wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle.

Outdated rooms. But for price not bad place to stay. Clean pool and lake fun with fishing and canoeing. Old putt putt course needs updating. Cant beat the old train ride $1.50. Buffet at the lodge is bit pricey. Didnt stay at campground but location looked good with water and electric hook ups. Lodge resort needs some TLC and updates.

If you are a tent camper, there are very few good sites. The one we rented had no place for a tent at all, even though I specified tent when I booked online, and was small even for an RV. We had to switch sites to 001 by the campground entrance, which was a big site by the play ground. Unfortunately, I slipped on the wet grass on the slope leading to the women's bathhouse and broke my ankle, so we had to cut our 4 nights to 2.
There are some pretty views of the river in the park, and the town of Carrolton is close by and right on the Ohio & Ky rivers. We ate dinner in town our second night, our options were limited and not great.
