“Great time had by all!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2011

My BFF and I took our 3 teenage boys to Mammoth Cave over spring break. Found these guys on the web and decided to give them a try. We ziplined first and we had a great time. All of the guides and employees were very friendly and helpful. They seemed to be into safety 100%. The ziplines were nice and long and they had someone at the other end to catch you. Then after we zipped we took the trail ride. I was alittle nervous about riding the horse, but i did fine. The trail is rocky and narrow in spots. I would recommend this business to anyone looking for a good time.

“Trail Rides and Ziplines...the Ideal Combo for Girls, Boys and Their Parents!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2010

Visiting Mammoth Cave National Park over our fall break we discovered the fairly new Mammoth Cave Adventures while searching for attractions in the area. The company offers zipline bookings almost hourly which made it very easy to pick a time that best suited our family schedule. During busier times of the year it might be best to make reservations in advance, but we scheduled our zipline and trail ride two days before with no difficulty. We began with a 9:00am trail ride and I thoroughly enjoyed riding through the brightly colored foliage of the deciduous forest. Be advised, however, that parts of the trail are narrow, steep and rocky so if you are at all uncomfortable riding a horse then this might not be the best trail for you to attempt. I grew up with horses, but my city slicker husband had a few anxious moments. Our trail guide was fairly new, but friendly, courteous and helpful. When our daughter lost a glove, he dismounted and came back to retrieve it for her and he was happy to allow us to cluster together and take a group photo astride. The zipline experience was fun and exciting. Training diplomas line the walls in the room where you suit up with your gear so we were reassured that our guides knew what they were doing. We were all novices to the experience, but the course seemed well designed and sequenced beginning with somewhat shorter, lower segments before escalating (literally) to higher, longer zips. We were in a group of 8 with 5 adults and 3 kids. Because we went earlier in the day and it was a fairly chilly fall morning the equipment wasn't warmed up and our lighter riders kept stopping short of the platforms on the longer lines. Despite attempting throws of rope to pull people in our receiving guide had to go out on the line to retrieve them several times so we spent more time on the course than usual, but no one was complaining as it gave us time to get to know one another and exchange tips on things to do in the area. The platforms were cozy, but not scarily crowded and while there were ramps on several of them to ascend to the platform one of them required climbing up a ladder to the next tower and another required climbing down. In all cases we were safely tethered, but the course isn't for the faint of heart. I was worried that my 10 y.o. daughter who hates heights wouldn't enjoy herself and she had a blast (go figure). My 12 y.o. son and I would have gone out again, but my husband found dangling above the forest zipping to be a "once is enough" kind of experience. All of us were glad we took the canopy tour and the price was very reasonable compared to what we've been quoted near other tourist attractions. Mammoth Cave Adventures seems like a fairly smooth running startup business that has invested mostly in the safety features and staff training to begin with so don't expect a high-end facility. You'll be parking on a gravel driveway and checking in and gearing up in a new, perfectly adequate, but relatively bare bones cabin. Use the toilet where you're staying before you come because all they have is a portapotty. The view of the countryside from their cabin is great so non-zippers or riders can bring a camp chair to relax in and enjoy the sunshine, landscape or resident dogs. There are age and weight limitations so check first whether your younger or heftier family members can zip. This was a great adventure experience at a relatively reasonable price for the entire family. Our kudos to the owner...especially since he had just gotten married the night before we zipped!
