“Outstanding hotel”
Reviewed 13 July 2012 via mobile

The thing that sets this hotel apart is the outstanding staff. Chevelle at the front desk, Claudia and bill in the breakfast area
Lisa in housekeeping . In fact the entire staff sets the Gold standard that all other hamptons might aspire too. We are glad we stayed here on our trip to Cincinnati

2.5 rating is more like it.
Stayed here June 22-24 2012 for a Reds game. The hotel was not hard to find, and I did not feel uncomfortable in the surrounding area, as other reviewers have stated. Yes, there is a liquor store steps away...not an issue. The hotel looks fine from the outside, and you can find a spot in the well lit parking lot of the hotel, which is free. Checked-in at about 11:45 pm after a long drive, and got the dreaded handicap room ( hotels always seem to give you this room when checking in late), on the first floor. The handicap shower had the hand-held sprayer, and the floor got soaked. The first floor is on the same level as the check-in desk, breakfast area, and a conference type room, although down the hall a bit, with a door that closes between the two areas. We could hear the noise from a party in the conference room until after 12am. The next day, we walked about 5 minutes to the front of the Courtyard Marriott to catch the shuttle to the Reds game which was convenient at $1 a ticket. I would not consider the hotel walking distance to the stadiums, just take the shuttle down there. We drove about 5 minutes to Newport Ky. after the game, and got back to the hotel around 9pm. Once again, there was a party, and a great deal of noise coming from that conference room down the hall. We closed the door that separates the first floor rooms from the lobby area where this room is located, but it did not help much. My girlfriend called the front desk at midnight (which we have never done before, in years of traveling at numerous hotels) to ask if they could quiet things down. The front desk was polite, and the noise stopped about fifteen minutes later. It was an inconvenience, being that we had to be up early, and drive 700 miles home the following morning. The Hampton Inn should really either move this room, look into better soundproofing, do away with the first floor rooms, or stop hosting these late night parties. We had the hotel breakfast the next day, which had a great deal of options such as waffles, scrambled eggs, muffins, biscuits with gravy coffee, OJ, etc. There were a lot of guests there, and I thought the biscuits and gravy were good, the eggs not so good. The breakfast staff was very polite, with saying good morning and such. There were a few other minor inconveniences, AC a bit loud (which was actually helpful it turns out in muffling the party noise), a bug on the wall after coming back Saturday night, and doors slamming, spotty wi-fi. The total for 2 nights ( Fri-Sat) was about $353 dollars in a standard room. Not a terrible hotel, affordable, and a pleasant staff, but if I ever came back to this area, I would probably try a different hotel.

Room Tip: Stay away from the first floor, it is noisy!

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I am sorry you experienced a lot of noise during your stay with us. We did have a wedding partying using the conference room for a central gathering location and do apologize for the noise. I am happy you enjoyed the staff and breakfast in the morning. We do hope you give our property another try when you are in the Covington, KY or Cincinnati, Ohio area. When making your reservations, please let us know you do not want the first floor and we will be sure to have your room is located on a higher floor, as requested. We do receive great comments on our Riverview guestrooms which run the same cost as our standard guestrooms. These rooms due tend to be our most popular rooms. We do look forward to your future night reservations.

Thank you again for your time.

Just a short ride over the river from downtown Cincinnati. Even during rush hour, it's not a bad commute, especially in the morning when traffic flows normally (maybe 5 minutes more on the way back over the bridge in the worst traffic). The afternoon return to Covington take a few minutes longer, but really isn't that bad when compared to bigger cities.

Breaksfast was decent. Good variety of options. The rooms were clean and spacious. Great value for business travellers.

Room Tip: Ask for a riverfront room on the 5th floor. Decent view of the city across the water (there is a mas...

This is one of the better hotels on the Covington side of the river. The only problem we had was on our second day they did not clean our rooms. We went to the front desk to get extra coffee and to let them know that the room were not cleaned. The next day they were however, the waste baskets were not emptied.

We had a very comfortable stay at this Hampton last weekend. The hotel was sold out both nights (the Reds had a game on Sat and Sun) In spite of this, the staff was superb, - friendly and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance (2 blocks) of a trolley pick-up for the Reds game; And 4 blocks from a bus stop for the rest of our adventures (Newport Aquarium, Mainstrasse and Newport on the Levee). Love to save money on parking and the trolleys are air conditioned. (Newport Aquarium, Mainstrasse and Newport on the Levee) The hotel has Standard double beds with large bathroom, large TV, microwave and refrigerator. We always travel with our own drinks...so it was nice to put our pop in a refrigerator rather than trying to keep our cooler full of ice. The breakfast was good...not great but good and filling. First morning was waffles, biscuits, gravy and scrambled eggs. Plus, pastries, fruit, bagels and cereal. Second morning was waffles, omelets and sausage plus the same as before. I am a huge coffee drinker and like good coffee. I was surprised to fine the coffee very good. Only reasons we didn't give this a "5" is the traffic on this corner is loud, our ac didn't cool the room as much as we lik and the tv would blank out every so often,

Room Tip: Stay on side with a river view for less traffic noise.

This 6 floor Hampton Inn is nice ,and just across the river from both ballparks. If you want the city view (skyline, stadiums) you will have to be on the top floor facing north .This property sits at the very western end of the retail/commercial district ,also the doubledecker I-75/I-71 bridge , which along with trees/wall/levee,will likely obstruct an otherwise great view. But the room was clean ,well furnished,micro/mini,great water pressure,3 mirror bathroom, etc.parking is free ,the usual fast food fare is a quick stroll away,as well as a liquor/beer store next door .Take advantage of the trolley that runs about every 15 mins. $ 1 ,continuos route to downtown/stadiums etc.but you will have to walk a block or so east to board.Super easy on/off access to expressway,.The breakfast is good ,fresh batter waffles, fruit, pastries, etc.Didnt have time for the pool, but the next time I roll through "The Natty",I will be happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Top floor face north for skyline ,stadium, river view, if the big bridge doesnt get in the way
