My husband, 9 month old baby and I had the pleasure of staying with Marc and Lidia for 2 nights in June. From the moment we arrived they were warm, gracious hosts, clearly very proud of the beautiful place they have created.
We loved the minimalist, functional design of the interior, the super comfy, hand made mattress's (they could possibly be the most comfortable beds ever), hand woven blankets and linen sheets. Absolutely every detail was beautiful and thoughtfully considered.
We chose to dine at Cal Calsot for all our meals, and not once was anything below exceptional. Although Marc and Lidia claim to not be professional chefs, they really could fool anyone! The food was absolutely amazing! Fresh, organic, hand made, simple, perfection. I'm not exaggerating! Each meal was stunning, we had to always have more than one serve.
The small list of hand crafted beers and organic wines were equally as good, and perfectly complimented the gorgeous food.
We also went on a guided walk through the meadows and fields, looking at edible and medicinal plants and flowers. This too was very interesting and well worth doing if you have a chance.
We appreciated all the help and recommendations that Marc and Lidia gave us as we headed into Barcelona.
These guys are doing such an amazing job. It truly is a unique and very special place to stay.
If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, comfortable place to stay, with some of the best food you are likely to find in Spain, then you must come to 'Cal Calsot'.
Thank you March and Lidia, you made our stay in Spain so memorable and we will definitely be back!

I could not have chosen a better place to stay for my girlfriend's birthday weekend. The house is the perfect base for the nearby ski resorts of La Masella and La Molina. Living in the centre of Barcelona we decided to make the journey to the Cerdanya valley via public transport which was easily done by direct train in 2 hours. It is then a bus or taxi ride to Cal Calsot.

From the moment I made the initial inquiry about availability through to the end of our trip Marc and Lidia were the perfect hosts. From the moment we arrived they really made every effort to make our stay the best it could possibly be, including providing us breakfast earlier than usual and driving us to the bus stop to get the first bus up to the ski resorts and staying with us until the bus arrived to make sure we weren't left stranded by public transport. On the day of my girlfriend's birthday, without me asking they even prepared a birthday cake and came out and sang happy birthday to her, which was a really beautiful and generous touch.

With regards to the house, it is an old farmhouse which has been beautifully and sensitively restored. All of the rooms including the common areas are spotless, spacious and incredibly comfortable! For those who find satisfaction in keeping down their carbon footprint all the materials are ecologically or locally sourced where possible. Returning to Cal Calsot after a day of snowboarding where we were able to sit and relax in the lounge by the wood burner and have a truly delicious meal prepared for us by Marc was just the perfect way to end each day.

We will most definitely recommend this place to anyone who will listen and we are already anxious to return!

Just over an hour away from Barcelona, you find Cal Calsot. The perfect refuge at the foothills of the Pyrenees that serves as a base for exploration and relaxation.

There's absolutely nothing I would change about Cal Calsot. Located in a quaint town, an impeccably remodeled and decorated former farmhouse ran by a warm and interesting couple, we liked it so much we actually extended our stay.

The attention to detail is commendable. From the towels, to the food, everything is a homage to design and simplicity. The food is just delicious (we at first thought Marc was a chef by training), it doesn't make sense to eat anywhere else. Especially if you accompany the food with one of the wines or local craft beers that have been so carefully selected.

To top it all off, the warm welcome made us feel like we were actually visiting old friends (with the perfect balance of privacy and independence).

If you would like to explore the area and even venture into France, this is a great option. We were a couple, but it's a great place to go with family or friends.

We are so glad that you enjoyed and appreciated Cal Calsot on the way you have described it.
Thank you about the food comments, but the truth is that everything is easier when you have gorgeous products to cook with! ...like the excellent chocolate from Brooklyn you gave us!, we still think about it! Warm regard from the Pyrenees! ;)

We had a wonderful stay at Cal Calsot. The Casa was beautiful, the rooms were great, the hosts were the kindest people and the food was exceptional. This is the place to stay if you are in the area and is worth a special trip for the food alone.

The casa cal calsot lies in the valley of cerdanya which is a beautiful place full of well preserved small villages. One of the nicest is Montella del Cadi, where the house is.
The house is a renovation of an old village house. Enters trough the ancient stables where it is suggested to leave the shoes and put some slippers to preserve the good atmosphere inside the home. The renovations were well achieved with good choice of traditional materials and minimalist aesthetic. The friendliness of the owners is unsurpassed as they will try to run your stay for the best.
We stayed for 3 nights. The breakfast consists of true natural orange juice, toast and homemade biscuits or other local products. Do not count on huge buffets of big hotels, but rather with the quality of products and the efforts of the owners to meet other requests. We dined twice and the culinary flavor is the same: home cooking with local organic produce.
The room is very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. For us it is not a problem, but there is no tv in the bedroom (nor on the living room). The wifi internet service works well.
For those who, like us, go there as a ski tryp, the resort Masella is located about 25 minutes and La Molina about 30. Both joined together as Alp 2500, with 140+ Km of tracks and a beautiful scenery. Barcelona is about 2h drive.
Enjoyed it very much and we'll be back at casa cal calsot.

Cal Calsot is a rural B&B in a beautiful, restored stone farm-house in Montellà del Cadí run by a young couple full of enthusiastic energy. A great basecamp for skiing, hiking and sightseeing in the area. A healthy environment, excellent food (local eco products) cooked with love and attention to detail. Spacious and quiet rooms cleanly decorated, minimizing the ecological impact and harmonizing and connecting with the natural surrounds. A perfect place to stay families or couples.
