What we will remember most about our stay at Tiing Gading Bungalows is how accommodating and friendly Alan and Siti, Wayan and the rest of the staff are. No request seemed too hard and they were good at anticipating our needs such as supplying umbrellas when it rained etc. By the end of our two week stay we felt like friends of the family and I wish all hotels could be like this!

The bungalows are fairly secluded but close enough to Ubud for us to walk to all the main attractions and shops including supermarkets, the Monkey Forest, the market and the post office. It was easy to arrange transport when we were going further afield.

The food in the restaurant is impressive and good value and the included breakfast is great with fresh fruit, fruit juice, tea and a choice of nasi goreng, a jaffle or a pancake etc. With Hanoman street not far away, there are plenty of other dining options within walking distance if you fancy a change.

We enjoyed our stay so much I'm reluctant to mention anything negative but to be fair, we did find the room a little bit cramped with the extra bed in the room for our daughter. We also found the bathroom a little bit more primitive than expected as already mentioned in other reviews. These are small complaints however, when taking into account the superb hospitality from the owners and staff.

We would definitely come back next time we are in Ubud.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are probably a little bit more private.

My wife and I stayed here after looking up reviews of lots of places in Ubud on Trip Advisor. We were'nt dissapointed. Ting gading is good value for money. Alan and Siti were very good hosts and looked after us during our three day stay. The cottages are cute, comfortable and quiet. The location is handy to the main central area of Ubud. Maybe a 10 minute walk. We walked back from the market area at night on several occasions with no problems at all. We ate in one night and Siti cooked us a lovely vegetarian meal. She also runs cooking classes. Breakfasts were included and were good. There is a pool and a thermos of hot tea appears outside your door every morning.

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room. These look out over the garden and have a nice little balcony

The hotel is nothing short of perfect, the warmth felt off siti and Allan is second to none and made me and Sarah look forward to rebooking at another point in the future!
The service is so so friendly .....
If you like good food without the fuss come here... Having trained as a chef for some years I am glad to say the food here is the best I have eaten from ANY Indonesian resturant.. Looking forward to our cooking classes on the final couple of days of our stay
Thank you for the warmth and family feel

Hi,

We travelled to Bali on the 21st of October and stayed at the Tiing Gading Bungalows. Both Siti and Allen (owners) came to greet us, offering a welcome drink (great fruit juice) and having a really nice chat with us, advising on places to visit. English was fluent, as well as french, bahasa and dutch.

The pool was very nice, clean and crystal clear. The bedroom was spacious and had a nice clean bathroom. Breakfast is awesome - coffee, fruit juice, eggs, or pancakes, toast, or even Indonesian style - you have but to choose.

You can also have meals, traditionally Indonesian meals: Siti is a great cook and we tasted really yumi stuff! Furthermore, you can have cooking classes, choosing the courses and then having them for your own dinner.

All in all, it's a great family type place to stay. If you're looking for a chain-type impersonal hotel, you'll have to look somewhere else. This is a nice place where you can be in touch with nature (do expect mosquitoes, as it is Bali, as well as all sorts of bugs and the lovely gekkos...) and meet some nice people, having a quiet time.

If you want something to do, head to the center of Ubud, walking or cycling (15 minute walk). There you'll find museums, bars, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and a whole lot of retail therapy available!

Tiig Gading bungalows are in a very good location as they are a quiet little place very close to the center. Waking up with the sound of birds and the roosters in the vicinity is a great start to the day.

Thoroughly recommended!

When we arrived at Tiing Gading we were greated warmly and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bungalows are very attractive and you certainly feel really feel like you are in Bali with the traditional style furniture and decoration which is lovely. There is a lovely big mosquito net around the bed and the staff lit a mosquito coil outside our room every night to prevent any bother from mosquitoes. Every day freshly made tea was left outside our room which was really nice.

The only thing we were disappointed in with regards to the room was the bathroom - the lighting wasn't very good and although clean, the facilities were very basic. The way the shower was fixed to the wall meant that you couldn't put your head under the water without having to stoop down which wasn't ideal (and I'm only short). The water from the shower leaked onto the floor so during a shower you would have to constantly mop this up. Having a shower is usually a pleasant experience especially after a long hot day but to be honest it was a bit of an ordeal here and it was a case of having a quick wash and getting out as quickly as possible. In addition the towels we were given for the bathroom and the pool were pretty threadbare and we ended up using our own towels instead.

There was a nice choice for breakfast which was very generous and the restaurant area is really pleasant.

The pool is very nice and we really enjoyed having a swim at the end of the day. However
it's not the fault of the hotel at all but unfortunately there seems to be a lot of building work going on around the hotel. This makes it quite noisy and we were woken up at around 7.30am every day to the sound of drilling and banging and various construction work. In addition the pool is overlooked by a construction site. I'm sure some people won't be bothered but although I enjoyed having a swim I didn't spend any time lying by the pool because all the builders had a direct view of us in our swimming gear which I felt uncomfortable about. Siti and Alan have said they will be planting some trees so I'm sure this won't be a problem for long.

In addition to the construction noise one of the members of staff sweeps the grounds at around 8am which we found quite disruptive. It's great that they want to keep the hotel grounds clean and tidy but why they have to sweep loudly early in the morning when guests are trying to sleep I don't know! I actually resorted to wearing earplugs to try to block out the sounds of the sweeping and construction noise.

The hotel has a pet monkey in a cage who we felt a bit sorry for, especially after seeing all the happy monkeys in the monkey forest sanctuary! I wouldn't mark the hotel down on this but it wasn't to our taste.

In terms of location the walk to central Ubud is around 20-25 mins. We chose this hotel because it is supposed to be away from all of the hustle and bustle of Ubud central. However there was just as much noise from scooters, cars and building work as there would have been had we stayed further in so in hindsight we would have chosen somewhere closer with less of a walk.
