We have stayed for the third time at Maya, one stay more magical than the next. From the entrance to the end of the property - it must be close to a kilometer - but every inch of the garden is manicured to perfection. The villas are beautifully hidden, overlooking the valley below. Most have private pools. This is a sexy, romantic place offering all the privacy one could wish. The food is outstanding from breakfast to dinner. Many of the staff have been there since the opening, delivering excellent service throughout. If you wish to have dinner outside the hotel in Ubud, we recommend you use the limo service of Maya. After dinner let the restaurant call them to pick you up. One way is just Rupees 50,000 so for USD5.- you have a stylish and safe transfer to wherever you wish to go in Ubud. And - there is new fitness center - the best we have seen in a long time. A truly well managed, well maintained, well run hotel. We shall return for sure and can recommend this hotel highly.

Room Tip: Chose a villa with private pool overlooking the verdant valley.

Maya Ubud has been a place my family and I always visit and stay everytime we go to Bali. Perhaps we have been staying at Maya for 9x. Almost every year in a row.. From the first time Maya has a special place in our heart. We might change and try new hotels in Bali but Maya always in our list everytime we visit Bali. For 9 nights, we always stay 3 nights in Maya. Always getting the same connecting rooms as requested, our rooms are in 3rd floor facing the valley. Morning time just sit at the balcony having ur breakfast delivered to our room, listen to the sound of nature.. It is heaven.

Then take the nature walk around the resort. Find the bale bengong down there. Listen to the sound of birds and water from the river below. I used to bring my novel and my kids play cards. My husband just lays down enjoying the serenity...

Then rent a bike. Ask for the route and they will be happy to show you the map. You can enjoy the rice fields but now indeed too many houses built in between. I surely hope we still can enjoy the green scenery in years to come.

Back to the hotel, try the pool. Stunning view from the pool. They also have kid's pool and a 'soccer' field for them to play ( just a large green where kids enjoy running around, play badminton or with the balls). If you need more private area, you can go down to the Spa. You will never feel disappointed with the place.

Breakfast? No worries. It is more than enough to fill your stomach. Maya is not a crowded place like those hotel in nusa dua or seminyak. Choose the seat where you can enjoy the scenery of the valley. Take your time, no hurry!

If you like rice fields, you can ask rooms facing the fields but as for me, always valley view.

Dinner combined with balinese dances. Another experience you shall not miss!!!

If you feel like going to the center of ubud, they provide you also with shuttle bus, so it is pretty convenient considering Maya is a secluded place.

Maybe you also want to try the Villa, but for us with children, connecting rooms are the best.

The rooms are not fancy but very unique, clean, bright and homey. The staffs and Manager are always nice to us. When Our kids were still small, our nanny used to come a long. Noticing we came with Nanny, every year they already made up a 'bed' for our Nanny automatically. They note in detail what usually we expect to have in our rooms.

I don't think I will have enough things to say about Maya. It is indeed a special place for our family. We grow our rambutan tree there, hopefully it will bear fruit someday...

Thank you Maya... Can't wait to come back, again...

This is a perfect place to retreat from a busy life style. Love waking up in the morning to a yoga class follow by breakfast then a swim. Breakfast has plentiful choice. you will be spoilt, guaranteed!

The setting was one of the most beautiful I have seen, the staff were helpful and kind, but to be honest it was all about the money...They charge over the top for every little thing. We decided to try the best hotel in Bali as we had not been on a holiday for years. The rooms were very large with basic items, not that flash for the price. We could not keep going to the restuarant because of the cost and the drinks were way out of reach. A bottle of wine or cheap champagne, $50 to $70 + 21%, the food was OK but we had better in a local cafe. It still cost about $35 to $50 per plate (+21%) and nothing special. We decided on the sunday night special set menu of duck ($38) +21%, What a let down, put us off eating there. fried chicken on a plate with all the bones left in.and a little salad on the side.
The whole place was quite boring and you feel afraid to step out of line...We tried
Would we go back? well for the walks around the 25 acres , yes but for the dollars, no way. Don't waste your money

Maya Ubud has to be up there with the most beautiful hotels of the world. It is set in the fork of 2 tumbling rivers in magnificent gardens that are delightful to explore (if your legs can handle the up and down hill walking). The swimming pools overhang the river ravines, and the facilities and service are excellent. For folks who just want serenity and retreat, you couldn't ask for more. However, if you like to socialise, you'll have to leave the resort as it is so quiet you hardly know anyone else is there. I was also annoyed as the only place I was allowed to have a quiet smoke on the entire resort was on the tiny balcony of our room. Also all the "extras" like meals, spa treatments and alcohol cost 5 to 10 times the prices available in the township of Ubud ie were upmarket western prices, which was a bit of a ripoff considering the wages there are so low.

Room Tip: If you don't like walking up steep hills, choose a room or villa that is close to the lobby.

This is a piece of heaven on Earth. LOOOOOVED this place, Maya is absolutely beautiful, the grounds are immaculate, fantastic friendly service. Prices, however, could have been lower taking in consideration it is in Bali, and there are THOUSANDS of great hotels here. I'd be back in a flash anyway, it is sooo tranquil and peaceful here

Room Tip: Rooms 701 and 702.

The property is beautiful and rooms are well appointed. Unfortunately, in this hotel design trumps service and client needs. If you require a good Internet connection for your work, you will not get it. In our room, it was slow like molasses. For unknown reasons, tablets did not work at all. So my wife and I had to take turns with the computer. Skype was not available. The manager replied with a curt comment—Internet was working. Well, never to satisfaction. Not in our room. Not in the lobby. Not in the business center. Apparently we were not the first guests quibbling about it, as he let us know in a slip of the tongue before cavalierly dismissing our complaints. The last day connection broke down completely.
When charged New York City hotel prices, customers rightfully expect New York City services. The equation does not work here. Blacklisted forever.
