“Amazing place to stay!”
Reviewed 4 January 2014

Welcomed by very friendly staff and shown to our first class room... Comfortable bed, huge bath tub, hot water, flat screen tv, own mini fridge with refreshments, strong wifi and the list goes on! Great choice of breakfast and is brought to you in your room, what more could you want. Would recommend this place to anyone as it made our stay in ubud extra special and would stay again on my next trip!

If you are going to Ubud, this is a really nice place to stay. A little out of the centre, but that gives you a nice walk (max 10 minutes) every day. The staff, or basicly the whole family, is friendly and helpfull and the breakfast is great. You get a big room with a comfortable bed, a basic bathroom and a nice balcony. We had a great time here and felt at home. Good quality for the money.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 5 and that was very good!

If you are travelling on a budget, Desak Putu Putera Homestay is a godsend. It's not flashy, but it's a pretty little establishment with heart. Set in a traditional family compound layout (with some extra rooms built on top), the buildings and gardens are very pleasing to the eye.

The rooms are pretty clean and have aircon and wi-fi which seems to work most of the time. But for me it was the people who make the difference, and the family who run the homestay are friendly and down-to-earth. One of the extended family, Dewa, offers guided day trips around the island for around Rp 400,000; a nice guy with great local knowledge. They can suggest an itinerary or you can plan your own.
Breakfast is included and is very good, although I'd stick to the Indonesian dishes - the rice porridges (both sweet and savoury) were particularly good, while even the tea is fragrant with a hint of pandan.

It's a little bit out from the centre of Ubud, which is about 15 minutes walk away, but its location does give it a more chilled vibe without being too far away from the action. And it's nice to not have the tourist industry in your face all the time. It's also walking distance from the Monkey Forest.

It's not perfect... we experienced a mildly funky smell in the bathroom, and like many establishments in Bali, the toilet system doesn't handle tissue paper very well - they provide a bin next to the toilet in which to place tissues, or you can just clean yourself "Indonesian style". But for the price you pay, it's still excellent value. We are likely to stay again next time we are in Ubud.

I booked this comfy homestay on the net and landed there in the middle of the night. They were welcoming despite the terrible hour, and my stay there with friends and their children was easy and all that I could have wanted.
Breakfast was delicious - coffee good - beds comfortable - AC worked, bathroom clean, balconey with view to the garden with an easy couch. Wifi worked well.. and the family was really welcoming and helpful. All in all a good experience. Thanks to the family there for helping makde my first few days in Ubud easy.

Visited Ubud after few night in Legian and we decided to stay in Desak Putu Putera.

This is a family run bungalow and gives you a very 'home' feeling away from home.

Accommodation: Room is air-conditioned, queen sized bed, wardrobe to store your clothes, clean bathroom, no TV, complementary Wi-Fi & balcony. Coffee & tea. Refrigerator is also provided for guest to share outside the room.

Service: We were treated like a family, warm and generous reception. Make me feel like staying with my own family. The 2 lady serving us everyday was like my mom and younger sister. Breakfast is serve every morning in the room and the food was delicious. They will also arrange a motorbike for you to rent. Room cleaning is everyday.

Location: Perfect.10-15 minutes walk to Monkey Forest street & Ubud market and 5-7 minutes walk to Hanoman street where you can find a street of souvenir shops, beauty salon, restaurants & bars, massage & Spa and art galleries. 5 minutes walk away from Jazz Café Bali. But If you rent a bike, you'll reach these places in a minute. There is big Supermarket/Convenience stores nearby right before you enter Monkey Forest street where you can find ATM machine and do some shoppings.

We glad we choose to stay here. We end up staying 3 nights here. You pay small amount of money but you get 5 stars hospitality. Highly recommended.

We stayed there for only one night. The rooms are average with average cleanliness level. But for the price that we paid, it exceeds expectation in so many ways.
The complimentary breakfast served was soo good. Try the black glutinous rice if you want an authentic, local dish. Fried rice is nice as well.
The compound of the homestay is quite .... historical and artistic if I would describe it.
You could see ancient hindu statues and artwork everywhere. It is also surrounded by luscious garden.

All in all, if you are looking for a back to nature, historical stay, I would recommend it.
However if you prefer a modern, cleaner design with flat surfaces and squarish furniture I would not recommend this place.

I would be staying in this hotel for 2 nights from May 25. Is there anyone who is willing to share a cab to explore Bali. I am traveling solo and it would be great if the cost can be shared this way and it can become more affordable.
