We stayed here a few weeks ago for 1 night just in passing, through.
Service was not very good, there was no-one around when we arrived in the afternoon.
Rooms are chalets outside, they were warm and clean and the bed was nice & comfy.
Wi-fi did not work in the rooms

Dinner was average, i had only ate my dinner about 1 hour and then I had tummy cramps, i'm not sure if it was connected !!
Breakfast, well that's another adventure, staff were very disorganised and not alot of variety to choose from. We eventually ordered, but most of the items we were told was available did not appear on the plate when it arrived. After waiting for almost 30 mins, we got toast, eggs, 1 sausage and very crispy / hard bacon. Not impressed !

I really don;t think I would be back, only if i was stuck

Good Luck !

For half of our 6 night stay, the building was closed in the morning so did not serve breakfast (that we had paid for) with no staff around or contactable. The same situation occurred on various evenings. On a cold day they turn the heating off in your room when you're out. The food was overpriced and unpleasant. The room was clean albeit expensive for what it is. Friendly service would have mitigated the cost and state of the food, unfortunately when inquiring as to a possible refund for the 3 missed breakfasts, owner Martin was rude and gave no regard to guest satisfaction. There were no staff around for check out at 9am (or breakfast), a very disappointing B&B.

Called in with friends one Sunday afternoon to see if they were still serving lunch. We wished they had said no. They were charging £15 for one course roast. Nice ambience, well decorated with live piano music, so our expectations were high. The food did not look appetising when it arrived. Broccoli covered in a cheese sauce was a light sage colour. My husband's beef was very rare so we asked for it to be cooked a little more. When it came back the whole plate had obviously been put in the microwave as the Yorkshire pudding was by now completely shrivelled and inedible. When we complained, the first waitress went off and we did not see her again. The second waitress came back with the message that the chef did not use the microwave. The vegetables were very unpleasant, the potatoes hard and it had all obviously been kept warm for hours - we had unfortunately come in when they were packing up for the day. They eventually took the price of one meal off the bill. We will not be going back. Such a shame as how can businesses expect to keep going with prices and quality like that?

Having been here for lunch we decided on booking our annual Christmas meal with friends. The food was just lovely and the young girls who waited on us couldn't have been more attentive. There was entertainment in the form of Amanda Seal, a singer who had an amazing voice. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very comfortable and no-one is rushing you out in order for someone else to take your table - unlike some of the restaurants in the area! Martin and Chrissie have worked hard to make the Live and let Live a vibrant restaurant. The menu choice is lovely and all the vegetables are fresh - the roast potatoes are to die for! Lunchtime menu is really good too - we have been here several times over the last few months. It is, as it says, a restaurant so there is no need to have a huge bar. There are a few seats available should you require drinks only. Good selection of beers and wines and the staff are always up for a chat. There is some accommodation and the restaurant is situated at the foot of the Pegsdon Hills so it is in a prime spot for those who like to have a ramble!! Would recommend.

Came here for a meal with my partner as a change of scenery to The Raven which is just down the road. Upon arrival we were confronted with a tiny bar with grumpy looking people and a dog laying on the floor. I am a dog lover but seriously this is a restaurant. The menue was really limited and I was slightly disappointed at this. We both went for the chicken and leek pie with puff pastry lid, baby potatoes and carrots and peas. Well when we were presented with it both my partner and I looked at each other in disbelief. The puff pastry was more like a a solid lump of shortcrust it didnt even taste like pastry to me. The pie filling only covered the bottom of the dish, the pie sauce was watery and bland. The chantenney carrots tasted awful and I felt happy there was only 4 on the plate. We got 3 baby potatoes and maybe a spoonful of peas. Was so disappointed I couldn't eat it fully. We didnt have to pay for the main meals thank god as we ended up going to sainsburys afterwards to get some food. I can honestly say I would not recommend this place for food if you like variety. Will never return and will definitely stick to The Raven!!!!!!

Stayed overnight here for one night as we were at a 60th birthday party down the road, and wanted to drink without worrying about driving. Was not expecting much and thinking it would be a bog standard B&B, but were pleasantly surprised, to be welcomed by the manager, who personally showed us the room, which was bright, modern and clean and well appointed.

Back to the bar which was in the same vein and looked at the restaurant which we didn't eat in but thought it would be nice enough to do so. Came back at around midnight, to find a sort of a 'lock in' and sat enjoying malt whiskies with the staff and our friends.

Didnt have time for a cooked breakfast in the morning, but again the manager took time to sit and chat.

This was a bit out in the sticks, but was ideal for what we wanted and also convenient for Luton Airport (so I'm told)

Room Tip: They all looked the of same good standard

Difficult to get into the restaurant as the bar area was full of people with large dogs sprawled over the floor. Dog hairs all over the floor coverings.

Food very mediocre.
Accomodation sub standard . Very thin wall between the chalets. Could hear the person snoring in the next room for most of the night.
No pool and never summoned room serice

Best avoided unles you are a dog lover.
