We have just returned from an Easter break at the Cabin. It was our first time here and having read previous trip advisor comments our expectations were quite high. On our arrival we met Adrian the owner who we found to be really friendly, chirpy and welcoming. Having been given the keys we familiarised ourselves with the accommodation. We were really impressed with the interior decor and level of comfort along with the cozy feel and the lovely views from the windows.
The rear of the property is situated no more than about 60 to 70 yards from the Severn Valley Railway with steam trains passing reasonably frequently. The Ship Inn down by the river is about 10 minutes walk from the accommodation and has a proper rural character feel with some good ales on offer and quality food. There are numerous marked footpaths in the area as well as a variety of cycle routes. Walks along the river connect the village to places such as Arley another village with a great pub the 'Harbour'. the Village of Highley is situated approximately half way between the towns of Bridgnorth and Bewdley both of which are situated on the Severn are picturesque and well worth visiting. In Highley village there are two small local supermarkets for stocking up on groceries. For myself and my wife the 3 day stay ticked all the boxes. We intend to return for another break later in the year.
Severn Valley View is set in a lovely peaceful setting and was just right for what we wanted. We booked for the fishing and Adrian the owner was really helpful and took us to have a look at the river. Great walks, pub on doorstep and steam railway going past your door, what more could you want. We will book again.
Our 5th time at staying at the cabin and it again was absolutely great,
Mr J enjoyed the railway as usual, the engines with a good view from the decking and me? the total peace, tranquillity and total relaxation, sheer bliss!.
It is just so relaxing and an escape from the hustle and bustle of busy city and family life.
Adrian takes a lot of pride in the cabin and with improvements being made year on year, it's just wonderful.
Hopefully we will be back down to Severn Valley View next year, visit number 6
See you next year Adrian, fingers crossed!!
A well equipped cabin off the beaten track. Views of passing steam trains during the day.
A good pub a short walk away along the side of the Severn river.
I couldn't have asked for a friendlier place.
I travelled here for a short break in February with my husband and young daughter. The property is one of a group of properties, but slightly away from the others, set in a secluded peaceful spot, ideal if you are looking for somewhere to get away from it all, whilst still being close to local amenities. My husband took advantage of the local fishing opportunities on the River Severn and enjoyed it thoroughly, whilst my daughter and I enjoyed lazing on the veranda watching the local wildlife and pottering down to Highley Rail Station, a picturesque attraction. There is a short drive/ walk to the property through a small wood - which gives it quite an adventurous feel, especially for the youngsters, but take a torch, or batteries for the torch located in the property, if walking through at night time as it does get very dark. I can recommend the local pub, The Ship Inn. Within walking distance and good food with great views of the Severn.
