The Ship Inn sits in a very enviable position in a quiet spot on the side of the picturesque River Severn only a few minutes walk from Highley Station on the Severn Valley Railway. Tired of the usual urban pub fare we made a special journey to try out the Wednesday evening Curry Buffet for only £8.95 and were highly impressed with the meal (although, in truth, I think that a local balti establishment actually helps out with the food supplies.)

A good range of beers is available and a pleasant outdoor decking area which overlooks the river - and to top it all off, we were offered a free ice cream at the end of the meal. Brilliant meal and brilliant value - Highly recommended!

We stopped off at Highley during a trip along the Severn Valley Railway. The pub is just a short walk from the station down towards the river.
I had the steak and turf which was great value, well cooked and beautifully presented. I like my steak rare, but in many pubs it turns up well done irrespective of way I tell the serving staff. Not here. The pub had a great choice of real ales which would suit a variety of tastes.
We visited on a lively sunny day, and the outside terrace had nice comfortable furniture from which to enjoy the view.
A lovely lunch - we will be back!

We have visited this establishment on numerous occasions and again visited a week or so ago for Sunday lunch... Making the most of the lovely weather, we sat outside with our two dogs.. over looking the river. As usual the food was superb, extremely tasty and well presented. The food was again excellent value for money too.... The waitresses were very polite and friendly and the lady behind the bar (Elaine) was lovely and welcoming. I can not praise this establishment enough and we look forward to many more visits!! Well done everyone and of course, compliments to the chef!!

Too late!

Starter welded to plate with dryness, obviously prepared in advance, however this pre-preparation didn't help with the delivery of the meal that was so slow. Other tables had left before hand refusing to pay due to poor food and slow service. Deserts served in full view of our table on the cashier table balanced over the table orders and other paperwork, not ideal and potentially not very hygienic.

Lovely location good for a drink on a riverside walk.

All this and you can get to The Ship Inn via the Severn Valley Railway! The Sunday carvery was excellent - probably the best I have ever had. Tasted like all local ingredients. We will be back
