“Quiet and peaceful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

We stayed in the West Family Sisters Shop and would certainly go back again. The bed was very comfortable and the water was almost instantaneously hot! The decor was most pleasing and the whole stay was peaceful and quiet....the air conditioners have even been placed far enough away from the rooms that you never hear them running. We were on the first floor and could hear the upstairs guest walking around (the floor squeaked), but we did not find this to be a problem. It was lovely to walk through such beautiful grounds and seeing the lambs at play was great. Will we go back again....absolutely!

Beautiful grounds, peaceful atmosphere, great food, wonderful little gift shops. My boys were a bit bored but found Monopoly and played games instead of electronics which we loved. My 8 yr old gathered chicken eggs one morning which he thought was cool. Also had a tour of the buildings the Shakers used when they lived there along with history of it all. Oddly we had to pay separate for that tour although we were staying at the hotel there. Four Roses distillery is nearby and Harridsburg town is too.

Our family stopped at the Shaker Village not really knowing what to expect. It was quite beautiful with many original buildings and several staff members exhibiting various Shaker handiwork. We saw rugs and brooms being made, very interesting. A video, which is nice to see at the beginning of your visit, helps to enrich your self guided tour. There are beautiful hotel rooms on site for a quiet, relaxing getaway.

This village is lovely and idyllic.

My room was at the top of the stairs so I left my case in the car. It's bare bones but utterly charming. There were two single wooden beds.

The bathroom was fine, the towels lovely and the toiletries fabulous.

There was a TV but with very limited channels. But I suggest you switch off and embrace the peace of the village. Take a tour and see the craft and artwork that abounds here.

Remember to book the meals when you book the room. They have assigned times and seating and if you don't you'll be left hungry. It's a very popular dining room for non-guests as well. The food is fabulous and buffet style, so bring your appetite!

It's a lovely place and I recommend a stay here.

We stayed here over Valentines weekend, lots of history, When reservation was made they told me I needed to make additional reservations for dinner and breakfast if needed so I did, upon arrival we had no food reservations but they called the kitchen and was finally able to add us on? there were empty tables all around when we arrived for dinner, We got to our room and found we had TV off an antenna but no Satellite, Maintenance man came and finally says we have only a few channels off the antenna so they moved us to another room only to find they only have basic package and no sports channels so no UK basketball 30 miles up the road. The room was clean, newly remodeled bathroom, Tub/ shower faucet was new but weird, you had to constantly work on the handle as the water would get cold then really really hot. Dinner and breakfast was great, had crab cakes and green beans, shaker lemon pie, Outside buildings need some upkeep as in paint and roof repairs. Overall was a fun visit, when we were back home and unpacking we found a mouse had been in my wife's snack bag and tasted a chocolate bar. We would go back but will take our own mouse trap. We did take the tour that was very good but there was snow on the ground and was a little too cold to venture out much to fully enjoy everything. Also our building had no wifi, we had to go to another building to check our mail with was a little inconvenient.

Room Tip: Ask if they have wifi in any rooms and ask for it if needed. take a mouse trap

I visited during the holidays and really enjoyed it. The village was decorated very tastefully and I liked getting to experience Christmas in a peaceful, non-commercial way. What a nice change of pace. The food was very good and the service from our waitress was excellent. The horse-driven carriage ride helped add to the feeling of an old-fashioned Christmas,

This was a wonderful trip for us, and staying at the Inn was the highlight! The tranquility, serenity and simple way of life were an absolute pleasure. The food at dinner and breakfast was healthy, wholesome and delicious. Not too pricey either. The rooms were simple, yet very comfortable. We loved being able to calmly and quietly walk around and take photographs, and learn about a community where the simple pleasures in life were important.
We will definitely be back.
