Well, this cave is a bit difficult to review. I have shared other reviews here and this one is a bit challenging. If you have never been to a cave in the Mammoth Area or other places...you may find this cave a bit interesting. The staff was friendly enough to us; after reading the previous review I wanted to mention some of the staff. The guide did a great job in communicating the history to our group. He was also very friendly in answering any questions we had. The cave itself is privately owned. There is a concern for safety issues...for example, in some caves there are two guides..one in front, one in back. (not so here). The cave winds around a river; which is under the town. The tour last an hour, however, the time is from the speaking not necessarily from the length of the cave itself. The steps leading down and up are very narrow; of course their steep..most steps going into a cave are. This is not a cave of beauty....not much of interest here. The price of the ticket includes the museum as well. The museum didn't seem to have A/C going; which would have been nice on such a hot day. The only interesting thing I noticed about this cave is that it had been visited by "Dirty Jobs". (The guide stated that it is a nice Halloween activity...now, that I would definitely agree!

We explored caves all day but we weren't just quite ready to call it a day. We pull up at this place (in a shady area) questioning if they're open or not.

We all in and the first thing the employees tell us is that they're about to close in 2 HOURS and it would be difficult to conduct a 30 min tour for a family of three and that we should come back tomorrow.

I don't know what kind of customer service that is. But thank you for not wasting our money on your place.

We chose this cave due to the rich history of the area and the cave itself. We had an excellent time and our guide Charolay was fabulous! She knew this particular cave and its history, people from other caves in the area, and was very engaging and informative. This was one of the family's most favorite cave tours. It is a young cave, so not many formations, but it was fabulous. One of the best museums we have visited in the area.

My husband and I were traveling to the Mammoth Cave area with our 12 year old daughter for a summer vacation trip. We are adventures hikers and wanted something a little more challenging/exciting. Mammoth Cave had limited tour times available and the more adventurous ones were already booked up. That's when we found Hidden River Cave, and we are so glad we did! From the moment we called to inquire, Charolay was more than friendly and welcoming. She helped us book over the phone and greeted us with a huge smile when we walked in. We did the 3 hour cave tour with "Cave Dave" as our guide. Cave Dave was knowledgeable and friendly. He tailored the caving tour to us as we went. He was patient when we needed to go slower for our daughter and was willing to pick up the pace whenever she was ready to move on. He encouraged us to explore different areas of the cave that interested us and filled in facts/knowledge as we went. The cave tour alone was well worth the 7 hours we spent in the car and we would have been satisfied if that was the whole trip. After the cave tour, they were kind enough to recommend a local restaurant for lunch and even walked us over there. After lunch we came back and did the rappelling which was also an awesome experience. Charolay took her time with our 12 year old and patiently rappelled with her to make sure she had the hang of things. If you are looking for a true caving experience that is not so touristy, this is absolutely the place to go. Highly recommended!

If you have nothing to do, go visit this cave. It offers very little in the way of cave formations and is boring. The tour lasts over one hour, and the guide drones on about his personal cave experiences. The children were no longer interested after about 30 minutes, as this is NOT a child's venue. Try Mammoth Cave instead. Anything is better.
