Owner description: Bentley Priory Museum, previously RAF Headquarters Fighter Command, is a site of national historical importance and from where the Battle of Britain was won. We are a small private charitable trust ensuring that the legacy of 'The One, The Few and The Many' is not lost; but appreciated, celebrated and commemorated for many years to come. Throughout the year we welcome individuals, groups, schools and corporate organisations to come and explore the splendour of this amazing Sir John Soane extended property, which has hints of Italian grandeur and where many Second World War and Cold War secrets were hidden within.

“Give yourself time to read the material”

This is a new museum with some fantastic exhibits. The building has been renovated to a very high standard, the rotunda is incredible to wander around. It's a pity the museum is not open more often but it is run by volunteers. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we were particularly impressed with Sharon who shared loads of interesting information with us.

“Beautiful Building Full of History”

In amazing grounds with ample parking sits this amazing building and museum. The Battle of Britain was controlled from the Mansion House in WW2 and many other RAF missions.

“A really worthwhile visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2014

Not really knowing what to expect, we really enjoyed our time at Bentley Priory. The history within those walls is amazing,

This is not a massive museum with about ten rooms but the display in The Rotunda is quite awe-inspiring with a comprehensive collection of fighter command pilot portraits and medals. The film shown in Lord Dowding's office was the real highlight and made the trip worthwhile. For us, this over-shadowed everything.

The café was just a couple of trestle tables selling a few chocolate bars and coffee/tea from flasks so there's a great opportunity for improvement here.

The gardens are worth a stroll around but the "Private, Residents Only" signs can be a little off-putting.

The guides are engaging, knowledgeable and interesting but the Custodian (Keith?) is rather rude if you inadvertently get in the way of his tour group. This really let them down and from a PR perspective was a real low point of the visit - he could learn a lot about customer service.

A belated thank you for your feedback on your visit to Bentley Priory Museum. We have been developing our Cafe over the last couple of months, and the 'Make Do & Mend' trestle tables have been replaced! An extended menu will be rolled out at the end of November.
