Go in the late spring when trees and flowers are blooming so beautifully and wander this beautiful, old cemetery. You'll see some lovely statues on graves, and also a memorial to Lexington's great politician, Henry Clay. I learned to drive a stick-shift here because it is all narrow roads, hills, stops and starts, and quiet with little "traffic." Don't miss the section where people who donated their bodies to science are buried--it's a grove of evergreens often ignored--but beautiful!

If you visit in spring the cherry trees rival those anywhere. There are other flowers and trees in bloom. Some interesting people are buried here Cassius Clay not the fighter, Henry Clay and General Hunt-Morgan. You can get a history lesson by visiting. There is also an area for Civil War dead. Located not far from downtown Lexington.

This cemetery is full of amazing headstones and monuments and is worth a drive through. It's free to do so and you can spend as little as 15 minutes or as long as you want. It would be helpful to stop in the office near the entrance first to pick up a diagram of the area as it's really huge and we neglected to do that. Got a bit lost a couple times, but was really glad to venture in.
