I having been staying at U Inn many times, mostly overnight, when working at Kentucky Children's Hospital and Chandler Hospital. This inn is the closest, within easy walking distance, friendly and considerate and reasonable priced. (you need to drive to get to the "attractions of Lexington, however). Comfortable and quiet rooms, nice breakfast available even earlier that the stated 6am.

I was skeptical when my colleague booked the University Inn for our conference stay in Lexington. It was a great price, but I was worried that it wouldn't be a great value. However, I was completely proven wrong. The Inn looks like it has recently been renovated, everything looks fresh and clean.

Our room, on the second floor, was a large room, with lots of open floor space and included a microwave, refrigerator and cabinets and drawers galore. The closet held all of our conference duds with room to spare. The linens were crisp and white and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. During our stay, the housekeeping was fantastic, even going as far as to check back to make sure everything was to our satisfaction and offering extra towels. The room was always fresh and neat when we returned after our meetings.

The air conditioning unit worked almost too well, we set it a little too cold the first night, but managed to find a perfect temperature by the second night.

Some reviews have complained about noise from the hospital that is a block or two away. While we heard many sirens during the day, there was little noise at night and we both slept very soundly, even in a room facing the street.

The continental breakfast is not a bad breakfast. They offer many different pastries, danishes, and muffins as well as toast (wheat and white) and bagels. They also offer cereal, juice and coffee, and even offer hard boiled eggs for those looking to go gluten-free or low-carb. They ran out of juice one morning, but quickly refilled it while we were still eating. Not an extravagant breakfast, but it's enough to get you started for the day.

The Inn, while not glittery and luxurious, is a fantastic place to stay for a great price while in Lexington. It is no-frills, but comes with a clean, well-appointed room, at an even better price. The staff was great, the front desk people seem to be mostly students from the University of Kentucky, and they were always welcoming and attentive.

Compared to some more expensive places I have stayed while traveling the past few years, the Inn is one of the better places I have spent time at. Again, it's a no-frills Hotel, but clean and comfortable all the same. It is close enough to the center of Lexington to grab dinner and shop, but far enough away to not feel the crush of the morning rush. It's only a short drive between the two. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice stay in Lexington, Kentucky.

Also, try the Bourbon tours. We went to Buffalo Trace and did the Hard Hat tour (free but you need reservations) and also went to Woodford Reserve. Close to town, lots of fun and very informative!

I had my mother in law in St. Joesph with a heart attack and my extended family
and I came in from Owsley County to be by her side . The first night we all spent the
night in our trucks , not an enjoyable experience with 2 small children .
So after visiting my mother in law at the hospital we went driving around town
and after an hour we came upon University Inn with their hospital Rate we opted
for them instead of another hotel with not so reasonable rates .
The stay was a good one even if our loved one was in the hospital it was nice to
know we had a place to go and rest ...thanks University Inn

Stayed at the University Inn because it was the closest to UK, however I would never recommend the hotel. Checked in late in the evening and went in the room and the TV was on which was strange enough and then to find food wrappers in the trash can. The air conditioning settings did not work so the temperature in the room was cold or hot and you needed the air on to drown out the sirens that were going on all night (hotel across from the hospital). The next morning, there was NO hot water in the shower and the manager, Jamie Adams would uncooperative about doing anything about it. There are many other hotels in the area for the same price...stay in any other hotel but this one.

After booking a room with a national chain and then reading nothing but negative reviews, we scrambled to find a room with better ratings. The University Inn showed up with reviews as being clean and reasonably priced. After staying there, all the reviews were correct. Large, clean spacious rooms. Very comfortable beds. Close to all UK sports venues and Landsdowne dining and shopping area. I would highly recommend to anyone.
