“Peaceful- Lexington's Birthplace!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

McConnell Springs is basically the birthplace of Lexington, and it's really surprising how close something so peaceful and amazing can be so close to roads and train tracks, and urban Kentucky. You might get lost at first, so just look for signs that point to the springs. I saw lots of animals here, like Racoons and many nice birds. It is very unique and historical. It's a must visit for those whole live in the area, highly recommended.

“A must-stop spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2013

If you have a spare hour on a pleasant day, be sure to make a stop here. Interesting from both a natural and historical perspective. Very scenic and with a lesson on the origin on Lexington.

“Good place to hike”

McConnell Springs is a great place to go hike in Lexington. It's also a good place to go bird watching. I take my children there often to enjoy nature.

“Amazing island of beauty right in the city!”

I love the tranquility here and the pathways. Explore them to the spot where it all goes underground again. Stroll in the peace and by all means check out the nature center there!

“Bad idea NO GO”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 December 2012

This park has all of 4 different types of trees. There were post-it notes scattered all over the far end of the park. I located a pink power wheels jeep on the trail next to the railroad tracks and the the final spring. This site was a total let down. The state has neglected this natural area, even the info and images that are posted are incorrect. The word probably is use to described the dates and what the landscaping looked like as well as the town.
