We stayed at the Essence of Bluegrass after driving for 14 hours. Our hosts were amazing. I felt like I slept on clouds. We were greeted in the morning with a mouthwatering homemade breakfast! We will be back!

My husband and I went on a small road trip recently and stayed at 3 quality inns (here, a B&B in Gatlinburg and The Inn at Biltmore Estates) and the Essence of the Blue Grass was our favorite. We arrived late and the owners, Jerry and Christi, were extremely accommodating. We slept in the downstairs bedroom which hat outside access. It was more than spacious and the bathroom was very sizeable for our needs. The entire house is very clean and organized. In some places I insist on wearing sandals everywhere but here I did not mind walking around barefoot at all. There were snacks and drinks available any time of the day and at our convenience. Christi and Jerry were a joy to talk to and made us feel very welcomed. We met their horses and go to see Hercules close up! Christi's french toast with bananas and Nutella was to die for. I would stay there another night just to have that for breakfast again, which is why we will be back there someday. This is the only place we would stay and you should too!!!

We just left an amazing stay here. We were a family with 3 teens and totally loved it! You are treated as a friend and house guest with free reign of the mansion property and kitchen. My kids loved the 24/7 snacks and drinks. Mom and dad loved the welocome home bottle of makers mark!

We are on a summer road trip and my kids and wife say this is the highlight of the trip. Some highlights: Awesome breakfast. Jacuzzi overlooking the pasture and horses. Fantastic rooms beds and baths. House is a mansion. You are free to play with the horses - feed them carrots etc.

Bottom line. WE WiLL BE BACK!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are good. Not a bad one in the house.

Magnificent property. We were given the run of the house. Breakfast was delicious, and they gave us a bottle of bourbon as a welcome gift. We stayed in the downstairs room, which is ordinary compared with the magnificent Keeneland Suite, but perfectly adequate for our needs, especially since our stay was brief. I wish we'd had more time there. I would like to return for a longer visit.

Ok; first, the wife and I are NOT B&B "snobs" or experts, by any stretch!! And Lexington, while nice, is not my favorite town in the state ( They play Basketball in Louisville too!). But, the Essence of the Bluegrass could really change my opinion of the town!! We're from the northern part of Ky, and we like to visit the heartland of the state to experience the history and heritage of the great state through the horse and bourbon industry! We've stayed at some really nice B&B's throughout the state; one which was nationally ranked and rightfully so!! However, we can honestly say that we've never stayed at a finer B&B, condo, hotel, resort, vacation cottage or any other lodgeing of any type! Our room, the Keenland, defies desciption!! Sure; if you're Arabian royalty or part of the royal family of England, well maybe the room would'nt seem like a big deal, but for us; WOW!!! Christi was a GREAT host and a joy to talk too! When they told us to feel like we were at home, we did!! The house is beautiful, spotlessly clean and what a view!!! Horse country; the essence of Ky!! Go stay here; you will not be disappointed!! Price is very reasonable; especially if you stay in the Keenland suite!!! We will be back!!!!!

Room Tip: I'm sure all the rooms are nice but check out the Keenland!

Picture sitting at breakfast with large windows reflecting dogs, mares, colts, fillies and geldings atop green Kentucky bluegrass. This lovely home made us feel what it is like to live in luxury on a horse farm. The bedrooms are lovely and well supplied with all you need. Jerry and Christi are very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were plentiful and varied and enough to skip lunch! We want to go back!

Room Tip: If you can't do stairs, then request the first floor but you'll miss peeking at the lovely u...

Our stay at the Essence of the Bluegrass was unbelievable. What a great experience to add to our Derby weekend. Jerry and Christi went above and beyond what was expected. We rented out 3 of their 4 rooms. All rooms were clean and comfortable. The house is amazing.... Pictures don't do it justice. A stay here beats a hotel any day of the week. Can't wait to come back.
