Wonderful sanctuary. The paths are well kept and safe. You can spend an hour there or all day. The small parking lot is normally filled to capacity and the gates close relatively early.

We stopped here on the way home from a small vacation to Lexington. I thought I had done my research on this place and thought it'd be an easy walk. I'd like to just point out that it's slightly treacherous! While this trail is gorgeous and nice to see, the trails we chose were bumpy and small with lose rocks, roots, etc. Just be careful and make sure your wearing good shoes and in for a good workout! It's a good 1-2 miles or so before you can see any kind of scenic water (rivers, small waterfalls). If you go, visit in the Fall! Perfect temps and gorgeous colors!

I like Raven Run, I really do, but I seem to always go on days when lots and lots of other people have decided to go too. It's not a big enough park to have so many people there, and the hours are way too short as well (9-4, I think). I also don't think I've ever seen any wildlife. It does offer a great view of the KY river palisades when you get to the end of one of the trails. There are numerous options of which direction to go, some of which will lead you to interesting historical areas. Be prepared for mud and slippery areas.

We went for a run out there and it was quiet and beautiful. Nice views of the river. A little tough to run in places due to the rocks, tree roots, but perfect for a hike.

Great natural area for hiking, especially if you like primitive trails. Be prepared for all that Mother Nature has to offer including wildlife and poison ivy.
