“A Upclose Look at Kentucky Bourbon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2006

The Maker's Mark distillery is located off of the beaten path. However, you are warmly welcomed after the 18 mile journey from Bardstown and 15 mile journey from the Bluegrass Parkway. Your tour will show you an up close and personal look at the whiskey making process including the Maker's Mark signature wax seal. Unfortunately, there are no free samples at the end of the tour except for some Maker's Mark Bourbon chocolates but I believe someone said that the distillery sits in a dry county. However, if you want to dip your own bottle you are welcomed to do so. A great trip for anyone who wants a real look at the Bourbon Making process.

“Great four”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2006

A lovely ride in Kentucky Bardstown area. The Distillery is quite a ways off the main road, but worth the trip.

These people really act like they are glad you came. A premium bourbon brewing only 37 barrels a week, it is a small operation that is primarily hand done. About an hour tour with a truly entertaining guide. Very old distillery, buildings historice and lovely. I learned they don't just put that bourbon in the barrel to get old, there is a very important interaction with the wood barrels that MAKES it bourbon. Who knew?

Their trademark is the red wax seal on each of the bottles. At the end of the tour, you can purchase a small bottle and dip it in the wax yourself. Really a fun, informative tour.
