“Good museum”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

Provides good interactive exhibits about different aspects of the race horse industry. The move is very good, as is the "walk through" tour of the paddock area. There is a nice gift shop, and a cafe on the premises. Admission to Churchill downs is separate.
A good introduction to the world of horse racing, an integral part of the Churchill downs experience.

“Museum great but tour was bad.”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

The Derby museum was nicely designed and offered plenty of exhibits to satisfy the derby lover. The video screening room was an added bonus. Our kids loved the horse racing video game and seeing Winston. The tour of Churchill Downs left a LOT to be desired. Our tour guide was not knowledgeable at all and didn't annunciation well. Nearly every questioned asked was answered with, "I don't know the answer to that but it's really cool." The tour itself was a waste of time unless you have a quality guide. On the tour you will get to see the grandstands, track and paddock. It's nothing spectacular. If you go to Lexington you will find that Keeneland is more beautiful!

Finally the neighborhood surrounding the KY Derby Museum and Churchill Downs is less than desirable. Seeing a woman leaned into the side of a passenger side window while wearing nothing from the waist down is not something I needed three little boys to see.

Had a great time. Tour was fantastic, guide was well versed and well spoken, thanks Ken! Kids enjoyed it, my daughter, a rider was in heaven. Hope to some day be back for the derby or the oaks.

“Evening business party”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

Our group reserved the museum for an evening dinner - tour guides were great - shared lots of tidbits about horse racing only they would know. Dinner and drinks with in the round movie were wonderful, great experience.

“Exceeded my expectations !”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

The Derby Museum and Churchill Downs (tour included in the museum ticket) are a must see in Louisville. The history of the Derby is so well documented, and the panoramic film on the Run for the Roses will give you goose bumps. Lots of interactive exhibits as well. And just being at Churchill Downs is exciting. Even if you aren't a big horse racing fan, you will love it, if just for the history. I highly recommend it. Oh and we enjoyed a very nice lunch in the cafe there.
