I was not at all impressed with Churchill Downs. I have been to and visited much nicer tracks. It was an experience but wouldn’t go back if I was back in town.

My husband, mother, aunt, and I spent last Saturday afternoon in the Turf Club Roses Room at Churchill Downs and had a blast. The area has been remodeled and looks really beautiful and elegant. You can buy a ticket to be in the Roses Room and you are assured a table indoors with A/C, a great view of the track, super easy access to betting windows, and the option to order off of a standard menu or do the buffet. We didn't eat since we had a big breakfast before heading over. We did look at the menu (which has recently changed) and were a little surprised to see that they had removed the traditional Kentucky hot brown and replaced options like octopus, raw oysters. The menu seemed to be an attempt to go more upscale, but I have to wonder if this is the best idea. I don't think most people want to order octopus or raw oysters at a race track, just my opinion. Anyway it's a great deal and really fun. There is no minimum in the dining room anymore, so you don't feel obligated to eat something you don't want just to satisfy the minimum. Star was our server and she was really nice and attentive. This is a great and very comfortable way to experience the greatest racetrack in the world!

If you want to go to a premier racetrack, go to Churchill Downs ! Excellent thoroughbred racing. Huge facility, plenty of food and drink. Always some kind of special event going on. ( I got to see Justify !!!!)...Go casual and stay on main floor and general admission seating or dress up and hit one of the dining rooms.( They have a dress code. ) Reserve a box seat if you desire. Very nice gift shop. Kentucky Derby Museum is worth a visit, same location as Churchill Downs.

This is probably the most historic racetrack in horse racing. I’m not a rabid fan of the ‘sport’ but have to acknowledge Churchill is a nice venue. If you’ve never been inside the museum you need to go. Parking is free during off season. The only real drawback to Churchill Downs is it’s located in the hood.
