Description: Against The Grain Brewery and Smokehouse is Louisville's first brewer-owned brewery and, like most worthwhile undertakings, the product of dissatisfaction with the status quo. The Louisville area has had a number of quality brewpubs for some time now, but still there was simply not enough beer! Against the Grain is an effort to help solve this problem. We maintain a diverse array of beers covering all of the major categories of beer flavor while generating an endless stream of innovative new brews. In short, everything is "specialty" and boredom will be extremely difficult. At Against the Grain, we have thrown out the traditional mode of thought and shifted our attention to producing amazing beer consistently, which can be any given style or have any twist on it. we hang our hats on quality and want you to know there are a world of options out there and we make them! AtG is committed to providing the highest quality beers, ranging from classical styles, to a variety of innovative ales and lagers. Our smokehouse fare coupled with our fresh and local approach, will satisfy both carnivores and herbivores alike. Think you wanna give us a try? Come on down to Slugger Field and move Against the Grain!!

We stopped here on our way down from Indy to Waverly Hills & grabbed a bite. Great craft beer for $5 a mug!! Awesome pulled pork & kettle chips, plenty of outdoor seating. Loved it!

“Try the Brown Note”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

Beautiful bar located on the grounds of the Louisville Bats stadium. A wide, wide variety of specialty beers. This almost always means better tasting beer, but often also means a more expensive one. The Brown Note was fantastic & weighing in at about 24 oz will set you back about $14. Nice atmosphere, and the staff was good despite being slammed.

“Great food!”
Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

Great food, had the taco's , the cilantro rice was amazing! My husband had the brisket and the BBQ sauce was something to write home about! The pours were a little less than I would expect, too much ice in bourbon.

“Funky Fun”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

My husband and I ordered a sampler (plus 1) to taste all their beers. We had the pork belly appetizer which sound awful but is humongous slices of bacon on a stick. Very fun to sip little glasses of beer and munch on bacon.

While tasting the beers, we studied the menu and choose a beer to complement our food choices. The descriptions of the beer are very detailed including the alcohol content of each beer.

Hash with the Porter, Pulled Pork with the Belgian.

The location and atmosphere and food and beer made this an enjoyable stop in Louisville.

“Brews and Food Worth of A Slugger”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

Thanks to websites such as Tripadvisor, we were able to find this treasure located right downtown, near the ballpark. What even made it better that it was only a few minutes from the airport. We enjoyed a flight of their on site brews, some were very good. But the treat for me was the perfectly smoked and prepared pork belly on a stick. Four very nice servings along with some excellent Kentucky sorghum for dipping. Just yummy. The wife enjoyed a great wedge salad. Can't wait to go back a have some more belly.
