“Beautiful Popular Spot-DO NOT USE GPS!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

Most important, GPS IS WRONG! Go to the website and do what they say to GPS it, don't use the link here, we did and it is extremely WRONG. The Bridge website knows the problem and explains how to get there using coordinates.
So glad we took the time to drive out to this spot! So glad we didn't give up after it wanted us to pull into a subdivision several miles from downtown.
This is a very popular bridge for runners, bikers, walkers and sightseers. But don't let that scare you, there is plenty of parking and grounds to hang out on and the bridge is almost a mile long so there is lots of space. The police drive back and fourth on a golf cart (not there they need too), the bicyclist are considerate along with the runners. The view from the bridge is pretty nice especially on the Jefferson side. There are a few spots explaining the history of the bridge too. The other side (IN side) isn't complete yet, the bridge is but the grounds are not. But there are a lot of neat old home and the flood wall that is pretty cool to look at. There is also an Treats/Frozen Yogurt store right at the end of the bridge (yes DAIRY FREE OPTION!). The KY side has a swing garden (with swings that are similar to porch swings) and a splash pad. Lots of walking trails and a Lincoln Memorial place.
I will say up until we went to this place we were totally unimpressed with Louisville, I'm so glad we didn't give up and went here it was a nice evening with my spouse.

“Enjoyed views after dinner ”

Enjoyed ourselves on pleasant walk from Jeff to Louisville and back. Enjoyed evening lights of the city sky line will be coming back. Only reason not five stars it is still under construction on Jeffersonville side .

“Great free fun!”

My kids and I loved walking the Big Four Bridge. They thought it was "cool" to walk from one state to another.

“Great walking bridge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

We ate lunch in Jeffersonville and then walked over to the Big Four Bridge. There was a nice breeze on the bridge. I can't wait to see what they end up doing at the bottom on the Jeffersonville side. It looked like everyone was enjoying the bridge. Next time I am going to walk to the Louisville side.

“Simple, free fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

What a great idea! An unused railroad bridge converted to a cycle/pedway. Easy, relaxing circular ramp up, not strenuous. Nice view of the river and the city. Late afternoon, great to be out and about. Joggers, cyclists (some going a bit fast), families with strollers. Everyone was friendly--the mood was great. Stopped and talked with total strangers about the beauty of the bridge. In the park below, a great fountain--sets of sprayers for the kids to splash through. I enjoyed taking off my shoes and strolling along in my bare feet. Everybody having fun. Well worth an hour to visit and relax.
