We had a remarkable dinner in The Oakroom, The service was excellent but not stuffy. The plates were beautifully presented, and no detail was overlooked. Two of us had a duo of skate and halibut- both perfectly cooked, incredibly moist. The simple presentation allowed the excellent quality of the fish to shine through. My husband had the bouillabaisse, which was gorgeous and which he enjoyed very much. The sommelier was helpful and we greatly enjoyed the wine she helped us select. For a special occasion, this is a wonderful place. Thank you, Oakroom!

OMG! Be prepared to be stuffed with deliciousness! Duck confit quiche, Indian pannar, rare roast beef and spectacular desserts that my sister claimed rivals her Disney dessert buffet that she paid $50 a person! This is a lavish and beautiful dining room in which you are pampered by staff pulling out your chairs, delivering your every whim in a historic environment. Worth every penny! No disappointments!

We ate here based upon TripAdvisor ratings before the George Strait concert. We always like to try new places whenever we travel. Service was outstanding. We only had 1 1/2 hrs for dinner before the concert started and our waiter was really on it. However, the rest of the experience was a little disappointing. On a Friday night there were only 3 other tables occupied. Husband got the lobster bisque which was really good and I got the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was so tough I struggled to cut it. For entrees, he got the pork trio and I got the barramundi Both were ok not great. Due to our time constraints no time to mention our concerns to our waiter. Probably would try somewhere else next time but we are really picky. But a beautiful place with great service.

We're so glad you joined us for dinner...but very sorry we fell a tad short in the food department! We pride ourselves on providing both outstanding service and food, and appreciate your feedback. I hope your visit to Louisville was excellent overall and sincerely invite you to join us if you find yourselves back in our fair city.

Best Regards,
Julie

The most beautiful spread I've ever seen for a brunch. The only problem is not having enough room to try it all! Too many choices to list...must try if you're in Louisville!

I met 2 weeks prior to the dinner with Chef Roney and the Pastry Chef (her name escapes me) in order to have the team create a dessert that was inspired by the engagement ring I purchased for my fiance (she said yes). Chef Roney suggested a chef tasting and further he asked for Dianna's favorite ingredients. He explained that many of those items he didin't normally keep in house and he would specifically order the fois gras, the abalone, the caviar, etc. Two weeks later when we arrived, every course was executed perfectly. The well prepared staff seated us at a special table with rose petals on the table. Chef prepared a salmon mousse with caviar served in an egg shell as an amuse bouche. The first course was a three beet salad including sugar beets, golden beets and one other (not sure the other kind) with experimental cheese and cashew crumble. 2nd course was seared abalone with white miso that was sweet and tangy and salty like the ocean, it tasted like the mustard in a fresh Maryland blue crab shell. 3rd course was fois gras done two ways, one as a custard with a pheasant aspic and two as a seared lobe with makers mark cherries. 4th course was three Berkshire pigs (menu item) one was a cube of pork belly with celery root , so luscious it melted in your mouth like warm butter, two was a bacon wrapped pork loin with hoppin john risotto, and third was a smoked pork shoulder with a bourbon roasted apple and bbq demi glace. The dessert was a horchata creme brulee, served with maple bacon ice cream, and candied bacon puff pastry with cherry ice cream. The presentation of the plate was totally inspired by the engagement ring which is a solitaire pigeon blood red ruby in a vintage platinum setting with several small accent diamonds on either side. I presented the ring when the dessert hit the table. She cried and said yes. Every staff member came by the table to see the ring. We truly felt like the guests of honor. Dianna said it not only was the best meal that she's ever had (we've been to 211 Clover Lane, Milkwood, 610 Magnolia, and Girl and the Goat (Chicago)), among others), but was also the best night she ever had. My goal was to make this the best night ever and the Oakroom culinary and service staff made that absolutely happen.
