So we had a couple of hours in Louisville before moving on and decided to tour Old Louisville. After the neighborhood website took us to the wrong address for their HQ we found their offices being worked on and a woman who couldn't tell us anything about the sites and just gave us a photocopied guide. Conrad-Caldwell mansion nearby had a sign saying it was open at noon. It was a 11:15 so we walked around some and waited on the porch. At 12 a lady came out and told us tours were at 1. When we explained our situation about leaving town and having waited because of the sign, she simply sniffed "The sign is wrong" in a manner that made it feel like it was somehow our fault. And so after encountering only friendly people in Louisville we left with a bad taste in our mouth. This is how to do heritage tourism all wrong.
